If I had to guess, I'd say he bumped his scope on something or spent no time making sure it was sighted in... notice how all three shots hit the ground just to the left of the deer, all fairly close to one another.

that guys scope was probably loose and not sighted in anymore... thats all I can think... that deer wasn't even 60 yards from him

That's when you notice after the 2nd shot and aim to the right a little bit.

^^ of course not...i'm a damn fine shot with a rifle (though i don't use a scope, because at some point i think there should be, i don't know, a challenge to it)...i competed in both archery (target) and riflery in high school and made it to regional competitions before losing

just because YOU can't kill a deer through bowhunting doesn't mean the rest of us can't

agreed...though i've personally shot and killed two hunting dogs that ran our animals when i lived at home (we had a farm)...returned them to the hunters' homes with notes letting them know i'd kill the next ones that happened to terrorize our animals

the hunters were not pleased, and i daresay there was a short period where i was afraid i was going to be shot myself...then again, i'd rather have shot the hunters than the dogs

to qualify this, let me mention that one of these dogs crippled one of animals through its harassment...at that point, i think i had every right to shoot and kill

spot lighting ain't illegal (until after 11). firelighting is illegal.

i wouldn't bash dog hunting too much, the deer definitely, almost always have a way out. unlike still setting, where the deer are fed all summer long at the same spot and then shot while trying to eat one afternoon.

thing is, he never shoots them where they're fed. by that I mean, he's only ever shot them at the stands away from feeding areas, which I find funny. he mostly feeds them just so he can put out his camera.

they spook easily, and the dogs would slip into the pens and run them back and forth...we had one bird injure a dog, but one of the other birds (in a different pen) was spooked so badly it tried to climb the fence and broke its leg (i watched this happen)...granted, ostriches are DAMNABLY easy to spook

thats a tough situation, one side tells me that i would have shot the dog too, another says i would have rounded the dog up, and went after the owners wallet. well, to the best of my knowledge, our dogs have never crippled an ostrich, or a horse, cause we hunt next to horse pastures all the time.

^ we TRIED to round them up...this happened several times in the course of one month...they'd generally take off, but after they crippled one, i didn't even try the next time...i flat out shot the dog (same one as always)

to be honest, i really hated doing it...the DOG wasn't at fault, really, but the owner definitely was...we couldn't catch them to find out who the owner was, though (we tried before)...it wasn't until after i killed it that we found out

oh, i have no problem shooting a deer over food plots either. i was just saying, i can't see much of a difference in skill level between still setting and dog hunting. i do both and enjoy both. but, i will definitely see more deer running dogs, so go figure.

i will say, bow hunting takes the most patience and skill over the other two though, no doubt.

i think after the second shot I'd just look down the sights and forget the scope.

I saw some argument over spot lighting... the law says that in SOME counties, you can shine a light on deer up to 11pm. This does not mean that you can shoot them under this light - you can only LOOK at them under the light. If you have a gun/rifle in your truck, you're illegal. After 11pm, you can't shine a light at all. (In case it wasn't clear enough )
