looking at a set. is $30 a good deal for them? used, but not sure how long.some guy on craigslist. do these things have hourly lifes, like other bulbs, or do they last for like 2 years and thats it?trying to rig up high beams. need something brighter than normal cars

the bulbs are replaceable - had the same set for 3 years back in the day - no issues - main reason they'd get killed would be for rocks on highways imo - hope they come with covers

thats a good deal if they come w/ covers- have them on my xterra - been on for almost 3 years. They come on w/ my high beams- added an extra relay, of course! They are ridiculously bright! [Edited on December 5, 2007 at 11:05 PM. Reason : pic]

hella 500s are what you are looking at, kand 30 is less than half what they cost new at advance, but about all they are ever worth. plastic housings 55w lights are all they are. my brother has a pair he will sell i think, and I have a pair here at the shop

hah, yeah they are 500.it doesnt look like them come with covers. how does wiring them go? is it strait pos. and neg. or some sort of harness?

yeah, just 2 wire pos. and neg. You probably want to get a fuse and relay, lamps draw way too much current to go through just a switch.

i sold a hella 500 cover on ebay to someone in mississippi once for $40 dollars...no lieand they gave me positive feedback, so they knew exactly what they were paying for

55w*2/12= 9.2 amps

There is a fog version and a driving version of the 500. I think the difference is just in the lens, but you probably want to make sure you get the driving light version.
