Inspired by tonight's disaster, I supposeObviously each fan will have his own personal distaste for rival teams and the leaders of those rival teams, but there are some players and some teams who come as close to being universally reviled as one can get - for whatever reason: arrogance, luck, leadership, individual personalities on the team, or just because they're just plain good and most everybody else is sick of themfor me, the New England Patriots fall squarely into each of those categories - I think having a negative, polarizing entity is good for the league - it's good when everybody has somebody to hate, it makes it more than a football game to watch, and it's that much better when the good guys (whoever that may be) winalthough directly inspired by brady, harrison, belichick, et cetera, this thread is for discussion of villainous characters and teams throughout the sports world of all time - who've yall got?

tom brady is not a villain. sure i want to see the patriots fall as much as the next guy but a guy who has 3 superbowl rings, fucked bridget moynahan then left her while she was pregnant for Giselle, and pretty much runs train on any defense in the league and can do whatever he pleases...a guy like that is hard to hate.motherfucker is living the life. i'm jealous, so are you

Dennis RodmanEDIT: Whoops, didn't see this was a personal thing. I'm just saying everyone hated Dennis Rodman. For me, personally, it's gotta be Steve Blake, Chris Paul, Rashad McClamps, Wojo, or Ralph Friedgen. [Edited on December 4, 2007 at 8:59 AM. Reason : ]

^^srsly. Kornheiser said it best last night before the game. You can't legitimately hate Brady (he's what, too good? stop), but if you want someone to hate on the Pats, Belichick is your guy. Belichick has everything you need for a villain. Personally, I tend to have a soft spot ("like" may be too strong of a word) for guys that other people think are villains, e.g. Belichick, Kobe, T.O., to name a few.[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 8:48 AM. Wojo----ski is the real villain here. A) he was a McDonalds All American, B) he played on two of Duke's most embarrassing teams and C) he wasn't good in college (at least not gregg newton good)...and people still hate him (including me) so he's got to be top of the list.

I actually want the Pats to go undefeated so the fucking 71 Dolphins can stop acting like they are the greatest shit ever. Plus Brady has been leading my team to fantasy glory so I'm rooting for him as well.
12/4/2007 5:31:04 PM
i'm more interested in seeing the dolphins go 0-16. either one would be interesting to see, though.

Seriously it was the Soviet Union teams. This went way beyond just sports and hating things about the individual players (which there was plenty of that too). This was idealisms that were completely opposite. From the 1972 Soviet basketball team stealing victory and the gold medals from the USA to the 1980 hockey team looking unstoppable. I mean those guys embarrassed the 1979 NHL All-Stars. There has been no villain greater than the Soviet Union and their Olympic teams.
