11/30/2007 7:01:19 PM
i think manager is a more concrete term than "administrator"
11/30/2007 7:03:34 PM
manager...administrator seems more like a tech support guymanager seems like a guy that makes important decisions and leads people
11/30/2007 7:41:30 PM
manager sounds like somebody who talks a lot but doesn't actually do anythingadministrator sounds like somebody who gets shit done
11/30/2007 7:42:45 PM
and the admin can change around passwords and things on the managers administrator ftw
11/30/2007 7:58:33 PM

12/11/2007 4:26:44 PM
Director of Information TechnologyorIT Director
12/11/2007 4:27:10 PM
unfortunately director isn't one of the choicesim not that old yet
12/11/2007 4:29:42 PM
well admin makes it sounds like you are the shit
12/11/2007 4:30:36 PM
not reallysystem admin makes you sound like just a day to day runner of things menial and trivialsystem manager sounds more of a proactive leadership role, with the capacity to do anything to the system you want.
12/11/2007 4:32:03 PM
System AdministratorSince "System" is not a person, system manager doesn't make sense. When I think of managers, I think of managing people. That is like saying Forklift Manager instead of Forklift Operator.
12/11/2007 4:32:26 PM

Manager.
12/11/2007 10:14:35 PM
system manager is widely used for someone who manages personnelsystem administrator is widely used for generic lan admin/support guysomething like applications analyst would be more fitting and doesn't carry some negative connotation
12/12/2007 12:18:20 AM
^oooh thats almost my job title: applications services analyst
12/12/2007 12:22:14 AM
System AdministratorIf for no other reason, when you apply for jobs in the future and the company pre-screens their resumes using software I'd bet "System Administrator" is one of the keywords they are looking for. Manager might help if you're applying to be a manager, but it is too vague to be a keyword hit when they are looking for a sys admin. Also, System Administrator is commonly used. If I'm looking to hire a sys admin and your resume comes in saying "System Manager" I'll probably either assume you're a low totem person being creative to sound important or just scrap it because it's not worth my time to find out.[Edited on December 12, 2007 at 12:24 AM. Administrator sounds like someone needed a title and they handed one to them - and sounds lower on the totem pole.... How many times have you wanted something done and asked for an administrator?Manager sounds better.... Change the first word & try itOffice AdministratorParts AdministratorBut at the end of the day - it's just a title. They're thrown around so much these days that they often don't even sound good when they matter.
12/12/2007 1:01:59 AM
sales associate has to be like the most common job title ever
12/12/2007 1:04:13 AM
either that or customer service associate

Administrators are higher than managers. Managers run a specific group of people and are the ones you talk to if shit aint getting done. Administrators typically run a portion of the company or the whole thing (finances, HR, VP, Pres, CEO, etc). They are in charge of more people/money/etc, have higher responsibility, pay, etc.
12/12/2007 6:47:16 AM
