11/30/2007 2:55:40 AM
operaword up hgtrani admit opera is behind firefox on plugin support, so if shit dont work i bust out ie...but its rare, and the interface of opera is so so much more appealing and customizable then fox
11/30/2007 3:05:30 AM
opera
11/30/2007 3:23:56 AM
firefox has some cool addons and stuff... but it leaks memory like a motherfucker. the people who like to develop for firefox remind me a lot of the different teams at microsoft. vista is a disaster. lets make all this shit in parts and not follow a strict standard. then lets put all the parts together at the end, from 15 different programmers/teams - and force new pc consumers to beta test it until we can get these seams ironed and get a service pack outHA I HAD A BAD DAY TODAY CAN YOU TELL. bitching about software.
11/30/2007 4:12:25 AM
i fucking hate vista honestly....and so far ie has been more stable than firefox since i've had vista[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 4:19 AM. Reason : the not responding never comes back in vista for me rarely...in xp it always came back usually]
11/30/2007 4:19:08 AM
i have no beef with Vista. i have 1gb ram, i don't run games, it's solely for web browsing/MS Word/AIM/MusicFIREFOX by far
11/30/2007 4:20:16 AM
my windows media player closed like 5 times from not responding and i think so far everytime i've opened vista.ncsu.edu in firefox i got not responding[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 4:21 AM. Reason : .]
11/30/2007 4:21:06 AM
never had that problem.i use Winamp/VLC player depending on what i need to play, so much better than WMP or Itunes
11/30/2007 4:28:20 AM
yeah i've used both before i just dont feel like installing a program...i haven't used itunes since like 2005...a friend was using it the other day and it looked pretty sweet
11/30/2007 4:29:36 AM
I'm firefox as much as humanly possible. Can't live without all those nifty plugin's.Except on my PDA. The Mozilla port on PocketPC just has too many bugs (unless they've recompiled in the last month or so) so I use IE and Opera on there.
11/30/2007 10:13:27 AM
IT BEGINS
11/30/2007 10:15:25 AM
firefox, unless i have to dl something from microsoft, then i use ie b/c it doesn't work otherwise
11/30/2007 10:19:36 AM
I use Opera for 98% of my browsing, and usually IE for the remaining. I sometimes will use Firefox, but rarely.I prefer the speed of Opera versus the expandability of Firefox. The only plugins I have on my Firefox anyways are the adblock and mouse gestures, both of which are built-in to Opera.Opera on the Mac stinks, IMO, but maybe that's because I'm using a touchpad instead of a mouse. Firefox on the Mac is too slow (PPC version), so I use Camino which is based off of Mozilla's engine. My only gripe with Opera on the PC is the same with Safari/Camino/etc on the Mac. Not all video embed plugins work 100% as they do on Firefox/IE. Most sites are getting better, and it's usually the local news sites that still use WMV/QT/RM embeds instead of flash that sometimes give me trouble in Opera]
11/30/2007 10:19:45 AM
Operathen IE if a website doesn't like Opera compatibility.Never again on firefox
11/30/2007 10:30:27 AM
^?
11/30/2007 11:18:38 AM
Firefox. I should probably try Opera.
11/30/2007 11:21:07 AM
firefox <3
11/30/2007 11:21:34 AM
firefox, used opera for a while, only difference was the torrent handler, but firefox add-ons have that too so . . .
11/30/2007 11:22:13 AM
opera totally owns.If a site says it doesnt support your browser, just mask as IE or Firefox. And speed dial is pure brilliance.
11/30/2007 12:29:37 PM
^FF has an addon like that I thinkI started with Firefox because of the extra security and nifty tabs, but now there's no way I'll go to IE unless its for ytmnd. I'm thankful I set my mom up with Firefox because yesterday she got a malicious worm/virus that is tearing her computer apart with advertising shit because she went to one site with IE that wouldn't work in Firefox. Lots of people have the virus, but it can't do anything to Firefox.IE FTL
11/30/2007 12:42:58 PM
firefox usually, but I don't have all the browser plugins installed cause that shit bugs me, so if i want to watch a video or something I use ie.Windows tried to update me to ie7 last night. No way am I falling for that, suckers!
11/30/2007 1:41:03 PM
I just installed Opera 9.24 after reading this thread, using it now to post...what should I do to it now? What are the cool plugins and custom things and all that jazz I should start with?
11/30/2007 1:47:19 PM
^ use mouse gestures. block content, fix up the gui any way you want, and be happy.also, to get rid of the Ctrl F find window, go to:opera:configand in the quick find, type in 'search' and put the check in 'Use Integrated Search']
11/30/2007 1:48:50 PM
right now i'm on a laptop with a touchpad...will mouse gestures do anything for me?
11/30/2007 1:51:36 PM
i dunno about a PC laptop. My Apple laptop w/ one left click button is worthless for mouse gestures]
11/30/2007 1:52:20 PM
opera isn't quite the memory whore that firefox was for me.i know that i can get the mouse gestures on FF, but they're built in on opera and i like the speed dial that opera offers now. I tried to get something similar on FF, but they can't really get close to that.
11/30/2007 1:57:54 PM
how does mouse gestures on opera work? on firefox as long as you have a left mouse button you can still do everything[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 1:59 PM. Reason : speed dial?^]
11/30/2007 1:58:50 PM
hold the right mouse button and drag in a direction.i.e.RC + left = backRC + right = forwardRC + down = new tab/speed dialand you can set them to be further than that. I think you can do something like RC + right + up and get it to do something.Speed dial is just when a blank tab opens up you have 9 boxes that you can stick bookmarks into and you just click the box to go to the window. Sort of like a quick graphical bookmark option.oh, and i'm not sure if you could do it in FF or not anymore, but I like being able to google/yahoo/etc search from the search bar by using "g (google search keyword)" "y (yahoo search keywords)"[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 2:02 PM. Reason : oya]
11/30/2007 2:01:14 PM
mouse gestures on Opera FTW.
11/30/2007 2:01:30 PM
that's pretty sweetand yea i meant Right click, so the gestures between the two are very similar...too bad you need to know script to get new functions
