at a family practice in north raleighfor an intern/assistant/etc position (looks good for med school apps)basically doing triage, blood draws, IMs, some procedures, etc.she didn't say it was an interview, she said it was to come fill out an application (she already has my resume, i'm assuming that's why she called) and talk about me working there.what should i wear? i've gotta come straight from class, so i don't want anything too formalnice jeans and a polo w/ some topsiders? what?the only job interviews i've done so far were either suit-and-tie (where i am now) or really laid back (apple)and i'm not quitting my current job, this is just on the weekends so i can put it on my med school apps ]

I never fail to break out the suit for interviews.
11/30/2007 1:02:10 AM
they don't have to be chinos
11/30/2007 1:02:53 AM
the suit would look a little strange in a place where everyone wears scrubs
11/30/2007 1:03:15 AM
haha, maybe you should wear scrubs then
11/30/2007 1:03:54 AM
i wishman i love scrubssecond most comfortable garment known to mansecond only to soccer shorts

Suit is always appropriate for "talk about you working there"
11/30/2007 1:06:22 AM
believe it or not, there are times when a suit isn't appropriate
11/30/2007 1:07:25 AM
I can't think of one.Unless the people interviewing you specify what they'd like you to wear, and a suit is definitely not included in the category of clothing they request.
11/30/2007 1:09:47 AM
this is one of themi would be better dressed than the dude that owns the placethat's a no-no
11/30/2007 1:10:11 AM
Ah, I see.I'd definitely wear trousers and not jeans then.
11/30/2007 1:12:29 AM
Wear slacks and a polo or casual button up shirt.
11/30/2007 1:15:08 AM
You can still wear pants and a button-up shirt and be casual-professional. It's ok to be slightly better-dressed than the people interviewing you. It shows that you still respect the interview process while not looking like a bad fit for the environment.

I had an interview on Wednesday, and if I would have worn a suite or even just a tie, I guarantee you, the interview would have never happened. I wore khaki's and a blue dress shirt, and when i showed up, the guy was like, "well you look like you work here already, I'm glad you didn't wear a tie or any of that shit, cause that's just not this company."I've worn suits to all other interviews, but I'm thinking the best thing to do may be to ask how you should dress (i.e. ask if this is a formal interview or not, etc)[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 7:21 AM. Yea, I've not gotten a job before because there was a miscommunication on the formality of the company. I came in a suit, they were wearing torn shorts and t-shirts, which is what I'm used to wearing to work anyway
11/30/2007 7:31:29 AM
