There's a better one where they end it with more formal dancing

oh, and first!

There are so many parts of this video that I like
- them at "SPRUNG!" and "baby"
- the part where he steps over her
- their shit-eating grins

This is one of those things that's got me wanting to get married for a few minutes

haha, last wedding I worked had the bride and groom dancing out all crazy during their first dance (wasn't a slow dance at all) and the bride tripped on her dress and went down HARD.

i laughed.

i think it's only embarrassing if the bride and groom are embarrassed. it's clear that they aren't. i would love to be able to do something like that, but i am definitely not comfortable enough with myself to do something like that in front of people, especially if they are all of my relatives.

The following is a serious question:

"What if theres no first dance at the reception, or anything like that? Would that seem noticeable or strange. Is a reception not a reception without dancing and music as a focus of the reception?"

P.S. To clarify, I'm trying to figure out what we wanna do for our wedding coming up. Music is looking like it may be difficult to set up, and we'd have to get a dance floor to lay down because the place is carpeted, which would seem out of place to me.

you don't need a "dance floor" unless you're a b-boy. carpet is fine!

hmm, good point. I'll guess we could just cancel the bboy squad we were hoping to get to dance for entertainment.

I think it's one of those situations where I'd love to have music and stuff, and if people dance that's fine, but we're getting married in a place where people are more than likely going to walk around and explore the place where we're getting married. We have a way of playing background music if we wanted just that, but I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money (especially when trying to work with a tiny budget) to actually get a DJ or someone who will try to work the crowd and stuff.

What's a reception without music to you guys. Just people standing around and eating food and cake? Maybe I'll look into a live band.

My brother didn't have music or dancing at his reception. It was not a big reception at all, and was more for the friends than for the family. Later that evening there was an enormous family dinner at my sister-in-law's parents house for all relatives from both sides. I've got no clue on wedding protocol, it's not something I ever care to learn about as I don't intend to marry, so that may be completely insane but it all seemed fairly normal to me.

Thats what we were thinking. Play music over the PA system they have setup just as something in the background, let people eat and socialize, explore the location, and head out after a while. People are traveling for this, so I don't want it to be somethign short and then over. Might make the drive not worth it. Who knows. We'll figure it out.

I always wondered why we photogs were supposed to focus on the scenery not only in the reception hall about around the local area - I guess that's why, because of the out-of-towners.

I mean, I know we're getting married at the beach, so if you took a lot of photos inside the reception area, I could see how unexciting that could be.

I was thinking that was the DJ's fault - he was probably all psyched about the changover and then panicked at the last second trying to get the next song on. Left them having to overact and draw out the tension, way too phony.

we played "white and nerdy" by weird al at the reception. the intention was to encourage whitey-dancing. it worked. "thriller" also yielded amusement.

and our "wedding party" dance was PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME. god, we forgot how fucking LONG that song is.
