apparently you guys aren't getting the fact that games like tonight and New Orleans are what is gonna keep us out of the tournament provided we at least get a some semblance of a team together and are considered a bubble team. Yes, the season is early... but you can't just not show up to a nationally televised game and an early cupcake.

they are a top 25 team

losing to them as #24 wont hurt near as bad as losing to UNO

If I was on the commitee.. I would think back to that game while looking at our losses and be like "oh yeah, I remember...they got blown the fuck out like they were a middle school team. Looked like they didn't even want to be there."

^^In reality, these two loses will not matter. Not only are they early, but one was against a top 10 team on the road. Plus we got 3 neutral wins one over a ranked team. We dont fuck up anymore and beat the nonconf teams we are supposed to beat 8-8 Acc equals tourney.

I don't think losing to the #10 team in the nation on their court is a "bad" loss. The margin is alarming, but come March, they'll pay more attention to the W and L than the final score.

We need TOB's 2nd season for basketball

TOB turned around the football team w/ a win at ECU
Now, Lowe can turn around the basketball team w/ a win at ECU

I'm not worried about the loss tonight b/c of all of the other factors going on:
- Playing a top 10 team on the road at one of the toughest arenas
- No time to rest from all of the travel over the past week
- Coming off of an emotional win is draining as well, etc.

We have 8 more games til ACC play:
ECU, SC State, Davidson, Cinci, Seton Hall, Western Carolina, Presbyterian, and NC Central.

ALL 8 are very winable.

Toughest to easiest games:
Davidson, Cinci, Seton Hall, ECU, Western Carolina, SC State, Presbyterian, and NC Central.

With the way we are playing, I see us going no worse than 6-2 over this stretch. BUT by winning all 8, we will be 12-2. Also, we have 16 ACC games, and just by going .500, we will have a 20 win season.

saying that ECU can be a turning point was kind of a joke... only b/c it happened in football. The point is that starting with the ECU game, we have a nice string of semi-easy games, which may collectively turn us around in the right direction.

I know its a long season, but this team needs a lot of work.

First our shot selection and shooting has been abysmal. We are last in the ACC in scoring. We average 65 points a game.

Our transition defense is slow and teams are going to start exploiting that.

Costner is being lazy, he needs to step his game up.

All of our players are playing inconsistent.

I want Lowe to throw Hickson, McCauley, and Costner out on the court at the same time.

I think we will turn it around but Sidney needs to coach defense more. We lost last night as soon as MSU stretched to a 10 point lead. When we had that Herb scoring drought he needed to take time outs I know they are precious but whats the use of them in the 2nd half if you are being blown the fuck out. It was like the whole team just conceded the game right there.

Its a marathon but right now we are playing with a pulled hammy.

Apparently now it's going to be even longer.

Like the football season. It's still September and all anyone talks about or has to look forward to is the possibility of not sucking as bad a year from now. "Next year" is the mantra of any person who has followed the pack for the past few decades.

Over the years I've learned that if you want to keep the blood pressure down it's best to think of all our athletic teams as being the Duke of ACC football. You just know you are going to lose, so any time you get a win it is both pleasant and unexpected.

Dang that sucks with our offensive weapons, and considering Costner and Fells only try on offense you would think we would average more than that.

^ you have a point

crap this sucks; i really thought that we were going to be really good this year. darn me and my expectations of nc state.

i guess we can still be good later on this year, but right now nay team that loses by 30 on national TV can't be called a good team by any stretch.

you are still young, wait until you have about 20-23 years of memory of this since i was a kid going to reynolds, you will get numb to it and you will come to expect it, and it is what binds us all and holds us together.

there is nothing like inviting friends over, buying beer, grilling out - getting pumped for the game only to turn it off and watch DVR'd jeopardy at the half

If I'm not mistaken, a couple years back, Duke blew out Texas early in the season by 30 or something like that. That texas team was still pretty good, they just had an off night. I wouldnt' freak out just yet. But yes, that game was awful.

^ haha. exactly.

everyone has gotten use to the team.

i dont know a single person who is really upset when we lose.

of course during the game, then the final outcome is always "its nc state".

i never hype up a game, unless we play unc because when we play unc it has nothing to do with ranks or how we've played the rest of the season, kinda like the acc tourny.

^true, but those were different circumstances; it wasn't because of Texas' lack of effort if I remember correctly. That was the game that Redick was unconscious and scored like forty; on that night Duke would have prob. beaten anybody by a good amount

No one went unconscious on us; we just didn't try and gave them whatever they wanted

but you are right in that it is just one game and we still have a long way to go before this season is over

I really think we just need some more time playing together. One of my roommates was watching the game with me last night and said he thought it looked like it was just a bunch of individuals out there. Last year we came together at the end of the season, hopefully Lowe can bring the team together a little earlier this year.
