do y'all like getting gift cards for Christmas?Personally, I don't like it from people that know me well. I see that as someone taking the easy way out and thinking "I really don't know what she wants and I don't feel like looking around so I'll just get her a gift card"However, I don't mind if it's from someone I don't really know, and it's one of those occasions where you feel obligated to get someone something. Or if it's a situation in which you are thanking someone for doing something and you add just a little bit more to the thanks by getting them a gift card somewhere. But overall, I don't like gift cards

Typical female bullshit."I am going to bitch about getting a gift card because they did not get me something else to bitch about"]

I see it as someone caring enough for me to get what I want right off and not have to wait in line for eons to return whatever random shit they got me.

only mind when the card is to somewhere they know i'd never go to

i don't expect anyone to get me anything for christmas or any other holiday and i'm okay with not not getting anything because i don't need people to show their love by giving me stuff[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 9:11 PM. Reason : and i'm not trying to be condescending]

I mean it's just when I go and buy someone a present I do put a lot of thought into it because I love them, and for me when I get someone a gift card I just do that cause I'm like "I'm tired of trying to figure out what to get, I don't really care, let them do it." But I do care, so I will shop around until I find the perfect thing for them.I wouldn't mind gift cards for clothes so much, because I am kinda picky about clothes...[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 9:18 PM. I love getting gift cards, they are my favorite thing to receive. It's the gift of SHOPPING.Rather than you choosing something for me (that I probably won't like), I get to choose for myself.

does anyone at least agree that a gift card from the boyfriend is a no-no?
11/28/2007 9:38:17 PM
I'd only be upset if my boyfriend got me one because he's the one person I'd expect to think of something to get me if I didn't ask for something. But most other people if I don't give them a request for something, I guess I'd rather have a gift card that something I would never use.I almost never give them, though.

^Yeah I guess that's what I do...Generally when someone asks me what I want I'd give them some idea...cause sometimes, especially this year I have no clue what I want...I mean there are only 3 things on my list which comes to a total of maybe $75. From my aunt and uncle, a gift card to american eagle would be nice, because I shop there and I don't like people picking out clothes for me, from my parents I generally can expect the things on my listmy grandparents are the best at finding things for me that I didn't know I wanted, so I don't worry to much about them...and the boyfriend, well he's pretty much on his own...I don't know what to ask from him

I don't know, guys are shitty shoppers.I still think I'd rather him give me a gift card and let me shop for myself.[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 9:51 PM. Reason : FYI, if anyone wants to get me something, feel free to send an american eagle gift card!]

a gift card is probably the best present someone could get me... i hate it when people pick out things they "think" i would like bc they are usually wrong... unless it's something i specifically mentioned likingHOWEVERit is the thought that countsthat is what is important[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 10:29 PM.
