usually you can take those things off briefly if you can supervise them while they eat to make sure they don't go licking at or messing with the incision site.

Despite the fact that she has not had anything to eat since yesterday, she may not be all that hungry. She may be nauseous still from the anesthetic and sore from the surgery. Usually, the first night home they will just want to be miserable.

Most likely by tomorrow morning she will be begging for food and wanting to play.

Don't forget to restrict her activity for about ten days. She may be feeling better in a couple of days, but she will still be at risk of popping her sutures.

Yup, it's the anesthesia. She'll probably eat tomorrow, and if you try to tempt her today she'll just puke.

Last time I was under they wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I ate something. Of course I went home and puked it right back up. Grrr

Hopefully your cat won't act like my cat when I had him neutered. After coming home from the vet and finally staring to move around as normal, he came around my computer chair. I reached down to pet him, and he bit the crap out of my hand! I just laughed and thought, ok, you just got even with me.
