http://tinyurl.com/2ghfc3Looking at getting that one for Christmas and selling my other two laptops to offset the cost.. I can't find much of anything to beat that price even on eBay... Anybody know of anything any cheaper? That seems to be a great deal unless there's something I'm missing..

looks good. Apple refurbs are a good deal. you get the same warranty and extended coverage as with a new computer, but $300 less in this case

if you want a mac, i guess thats a steal if you dont mind "refurbished" (couple of my friends bought refurbised ipods and they look as good as new, n with the warranty i would not worry much)but you looking for any laptop, you should get a better config on other brands for that price range, check thinkpad/fujitsu/sony viao

if he was looking for "any laptop" he wouldn't be even considering a macbook pro.

I don't think I can possibly dumb it down any further.

Yeah, I've heard/read good things about apple's refurb stuff so I think I'm gonna try to go for this. I've been wanting one for a few months and I don't think I'm going to find much better of a deal and since the new leopard just came out there shouldn't be any significant OS upgrades for a little while

^^sorry for not living up to ur expectations~peace~

Just because you can run Windows on a Mac doesn't mean you can run OS X on a Windows machine. It's possible but not easy and requires extra work for drivers (sound, ethernet, etc.).Two of the guys I work with have both tried it and were able to install leopard on Dell machines (one desktop and one laptop) but neither were able to get all the driver/hardware working correctly and definitely not what I would consider a usable machine on a daily basis.Desktop - no networking or soundLaptop - graphics card was limited, only used one core (of core 2 duo), no sound control (volume or mute). So - like stated before - anyone that is asking about a Mac purchase isn't really interested in the PC side anymore. That being said - i would definitely go after a refurbished Mac. Same warranty, option to buy Apple Care and same support. Besides, if any of the parts fail in a new Mac they are going to be replaced with refurbished parts anyway.[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 5:03 PM. Reason : ?]

that is a most excellent price for a macbook proi got mine for $2400 when they first came out apple refurb stuff is as good as new, the only difference between it and new stuff is that it's cheaper.
11/27/2007 5:30:02 PM
^^got it installed with all drivers working on my thinkpad t60 anyways, my point was that, if i were to buy a laptop, i would even look at mac pro because i could easily install windows on it or just work with mac os. I guess, i wasnt thinking the other way around.

i own three refurb macs... always a great way to go

I cam across the same laptop for $750 on craigslist, people really wanted to get rid of it.

Yeah, I'm about to try that on a spare laptop at work cause I'm bored... but only because I've never used Leopard and am curious about it

sorry I got my computers mixed up, the macbook pro I got from craigslist was 1150

Yeah I'm trying to get one on there for around $1200 and talking to a few ppl... some have already became obvious scams, one or two are still potential candidates. $750 was a bit low though
11/28/2007 5:23:48 PM
buying 2nd hand laptops?
11/28/2007 6:07:49 PM
my girlfriend bought the 17" core 2 duo MBP refurbished, with a corporate discount and i think it was like $1800. doesn't appear to be a problem anymore, but 6 months ago, you had to check every morning at like 5 AM cause they'd only get a few into stock and they'd sell out in minutes.
