I'm not kidding. If I want seriously discussed, my best best is to start a thread in chit chat with a catchy picture, and then an intelligent discussion might evolve because people who know what they're talking about on the subject start posting.

Why?
What used to be intelligent discussion has disintegrated into close-minded extremists and paranoid conspiracy-theory nuts who ruin the spirit of the exchange.

What do you think are the main problem(s) with The Soap Box, if any?
The discussion usually isn't productive or progressive anymore.

You have people who go into the soapbox who view the exchange not as an intelligent discussion, but as some sort of decisive battle that they must win at all costs. They degrade anyone who doesn't share the identical view they do, they troll for heated emotional response using profanity and bad logic, and rather than embrace having a multitude of differing viewpoints they aggressively chase the opposition to their beliefs out of threads.

I used to have a lot of fun in the soapbox. It used to be a place where I felt like I could talk to very smart people about serious issues, and contribute to meaningful discussion. Now it's just a depository of threads where anyone can go to instantly be accused of being a liberal/conservative nut-job.

Woo... yeah, lots of fun now.

I used to post in TSB. Then a couple of years ago, I realized that I was reading/commenting on the same reoccurring threads and topics.
Basically, I don't really see the point of even going in there unless you just want news. But even then, you have to swim through the bullshit users to get that.

If you are looking to improve the world and make it a better place for all man kind, posting your views in The Soap Box is probably not the best place to start.

If you would like to get in to an online pissing match with people who most likely don't know what they are talking about it is the best place to start.

The best thing I can say about The Soap Box is that for the most part, it keeps the really stupid people out of the other sections on here.

And that's saying a lot.

At least when retarded people argue in Chit Chat they know they're being retarded. I always got the impression that Soap Boxers think that somehow they know more than other people just because they're arguing about religion and politics instead of beer and video games. Arguing is still arguing and stupidity is still stupidity, no matter what you're arguing about.

Plus, I know that Chance does the majority of his posting over there, so that pretty much so makes it the worst section on TWW.

i used to post in there a lot, but haven't in about 2 years.
