yep, select amazon as the seller and ROCK OUT.dude, no tax and free shipping on a really nice gps made me jump at it.Garmin nüvi 650 Personal Travel Assistant for North America- Garmin $309.99[Edited on November 21, 2007 at 6:25 PM. Reason : you can thank me later.]
11/21/2007 6:23:49 PM
select amazon as the seller???
11/21/2007 6:24:56 PM
are you unfamiliar with amazon and how it works?they have multiple sellers selling the same thing for different prices.if you look on your right side, they have other sellers and the yellow button with "add to cart".try that with the one next to amazon.com garmin nuvi.[Edited on November 21, 2007 at 6:26 PM. Reason : unless you want to pay $388 or whatever the next person is offering.]
11/21/2007 6:26:03 PM
If Amazon is selling it for $309.99 then who is selling it for $369.99?
11/21/2007 6:27:35 PM
The 650 looks nice. I like the larger screen. Are there any other major differences between this on and the 360?
11/21/2007 6:36:29 PM
the screen and traffic monitoring. that's it.the screen really is nice, but if you have decent eyes, i think you'd be fine with the 360 and saving $100. that's what i have and i've used both extensively. the 360 is also more "mobile" and you can use it as an mp3 player if you detach it from the dash mount. it will fit in your pocket pretty easily (most people have ipods though so that doesn't matter).i'm very partial to garmin nuvi's although i caved and bought my girlfriend a garmin streetpilot to save $80 (she doesn't need bluetooth anyway).

What about Navigon? they introduced a new line of GPS.... I'm looking to get one this week as well.
11/21/2007 7:21:20 PM
^^if you like a superior product and text to speech. there are reasons why garmin is the largest consumer GPS manufacturer.
11/21/2007 7:45:51 PM
i just received a second chance offer on ebay for a garmin streetpilot c340 sealed in the boxif anyone wants this pm me. it would cost $220 (it's $260 at circuit city)
11/21/2007 8:31:07 PM
^^Because they charge 3 times more for a product with the same features, so they can use that money to create hype and get more mindless drones to buy their products?Seriously, I have never been able to understand where they get away charging so much for their products. They're simply not worth the extra money you pay for them. Granted, the prices have came down a little in the past year or so, so now I'd say buying a garmon is no longer retarded, I'd downgrade my opinion to financially irresponsible.]
11/21/2007 8:49:33 PM
if someone paid retail price ($900+) for a nuvi 360...i agree with you, but in my opinion it is unbeatable for around $300.
11/21/2007 9:44:18 PM
I just grabbed the nuvi 660 for $399 this morning. yea it has bells and whistles but hey its my money right
11/22/2007 12:02:10 PM
My mom was looking to buy a TomTom GO 720 or a magellan Maestro 4250. Any comments on those?

I have a Garmin aviation GPS and a Tom-Tom car gps...they're both good, but Garmin is my favorite out of all the ones I've used. Maybe not the best bang for the buck, but i do think they are the best.
11/22/2007 3:05:30 PM
11/22/2007 4:07:34 PM
I just bought one of these as a present for my sister for Christmas. Text to speech for under $140. I don't really see how you can come close for that price.
11/22/2007 7:09:00 PM
is Mio any good? i might pick one of those up as a gift.
11/22/2007 9:46:21 PM
^ yeah i love minepep boys has a mio ( i assume the same one linked above) for $80 after rebate
11/22/2007 11:04:51 PM
^^^i hope it's very useful because it's pretty hideous...i wouldn't want that stuck on my windshield

^i have a nuvi 360>>
11/23/2007 12:25:32 PM
You're right the Garmin does cost more than the Mio. I assume that's what you meant when you used the > signs. I'll agree with you that that first one you posted looks nice. Not three times the cost nice, but it is slick. However if you're trying to say that second one looks better than the Mio, you really have been drinking too much kool-aid.I like how you picked the one picture that showed the streetpilot head on, so you couldn't see the massive bulk of the thing. You mean to tell me that you can look at this enormous monstrosity and then have the balls to call the Mio hideous? Wow. ]
11/23/2007 1:33:51 PM
something about the mio just looks awkward to me (it may just be me or personal preference though). the streetpilot mounted in the car looks fine, obviously it's not small and portable like the nuvi or mio though.
11/23/2007 1:50:01 PM
It's probably that the Garmin interface looks alot nicer. Currently, the Garmin 650 is twice the price of a mio. It's widescreen, very sleek, and performs excellently. The extra real estate comes in very handy when using the keyboard. The UI is much nicer than the mio in my opinion. It has an audio out and can play mp3s. It's not great, but it's not bad either if you have a port in your car.I think the Mio is great for its price point, but I think the garmin has alot more polish. Is it worth 150 dollars? I dunno. Maybe not, but it definitely has a cool factor to it.
11/23/2007 2:05:03 PM
I bought a Magellan Maestro 4250 today, loving it. I tried out the Garmins as well, but ended up liking the interface and graphisc of the Magellan better.
11/26/2007 2:28:11 PM
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4407763$339
11/26/2007 2:40:17 PM
Divide that by 2 and it would still be over priced.]
11/26/2007 2:45:38 PM
Where can you try them out?
11/26/2007 2:53:52 PM
Best Buy and Circuit City has them on demo so you can try out all the ones and make up your mind. Trust me, it's worth a trip... I did plenty of research online reading reviews and shit, but trying them first person really makes a huge difference in your impression of the units and features. Initially I was interested in the new line of GPS by Navigon, but after trying one out at Best Buy, I stayed away from Navigon, their touchscreen was very unresponsive. Magellan for me had the cleanest interface and really fast CPU for recalculating routes.

here's what consumer reports has on 'em:

11/26/2007 3:28:38 PM
I think we all know and understand your opinion at this point.
11/26/2007 3:30:28 PM
Oh sweet. I didn't even think to ask if anyone had a cs account. Thx Bobby.
11/26/2007 3:31:56 PM
<3 Consumer ReportsI have the GPS that's built-in to my car, but I wouldn't mind having something to carry around with me, and something that I could put different data in. I know Garmin makes some GPS for being hikers, with trails and topo maps. Do any of these little handhelds allow you to use different maps than the street maps?I like Garmin, but that thing looks a little bulky compared to the other ones.]
11/26/2007 3:36:57 PM
^^^What's your beef against Garmin? I've never used one, but when it gets high ratings ratings on consumer reports and outrates the Mio on Amazon and CNET it's hard to not make it my top choice thus far.
11/26/2007 3:39:43 PM
I've got no beef against Garmin.
11/26/2007 3:48:41 PM
Not you, Nacho.
11/26/2007 3:53:57 PM
For real? It's not PAINFULLY obvious what my beef with garmin is by this point in time? Really? Jesus Christ, even I'm getting sick and tired of hearing me whine about how overpriced they are.
