that doesn't seem like such a great deal to me even if it is 20c/Gb
11/21/2007 2:26:57 PM
if you are only looking at price/GB then you would be correct, it is a good deal for that particular model though

11/22/2007 12:58:51 AM
how about that $299 Compaq Presario laptop at Circuit City (also comes with a router and printer)?also, how are things already getting sold out? i thought this stuff didn't kick off until friday.oh, and if the store opens at 5am, what time do i need to get there to make sure I get the good stuff?
11/22/2007 6:16:48 AM
you should already be there I think
11/22/2007 7:40:31 AM
^^if you want a laptop, you need to be there at about 8pm tonight. if you get there after that you probably won't get one. a lot of people go out around 5pm or so to camp for laptops, cameras, and other ebay-able items.
11/22/2007 10:21:07 AM
i wonder what the chances are of showing up at 5am at best buy and getting an xbox
11/22/2007 10:30:17 AM
thank goodness the high for today is 30'F and the low for tonight is 12'Fi'm hoping that will discourage people here in Denver
11/22/2007 10:35:14 AM
if those were the temps in raleigh maybe, but denver is always cold like that, so probably not.
11/22/2007 10:53:15 AM
best buy has a sony laptop for like $399 if u wanna go early enough
11/22/2007 11:14:09 AM

11/22/2007 11:35:33 AM
6^haha, fuck that. i'm not camping for anything.especially in Bellingham, WA...it'll be freezing.[Edited on November 22, 2007 at 1:52 PM. Reason : but maybe it's a small enough city that the crowds won't be like that]

best buy in burlington had 20+ people at 8pm
11/23/2007 12:32:59 AM
the online deals have been a big let down thus far.
11/23/2007 12:51:25 AM
got my $349 laptop at staples i was #27 in line at CC at 7:30pm last night, figured i wasn't going to get a voucher for one of the $299 laptops... went over to staples where there was no line whatsoever. in fact there was 20 laptops at staples (only 15 or so at CC) and there wasn't even 20 people in line at staples until 4:30am this morning.
11/23/2007 6:38:51 PM
11/23/2007 6:39:24 PM
damn i woulda picked up that staples laptop had i known about it i just went home after i saw BB was crowded. Didn't know what time STaples opened, but it was dark and no one was out there.oh well.
11/23/2007 7:03:08 PM
i just went and picked up a new lenovo y410 ($600 AR) as an impule buy and it's awesome (the free ship store sold out in an hour so i drove the 10 mins, which is very unlinke me, but it was $30)500G external hd for $40 AR w/free shipand canon sd1000 w/1GB SD card were other online deals i took advantage ofthe only thing i got in a store was my business attire for the next year (thanks Express)[Edited on November 23, 2007 at 9:07 PM. Reason : online deals were pretty good i thought]
11/23/2007 9:04:01 PM
I waited in line at Circuit City from midnight to 5am and walked out of there emptyhanded.
11/23/2007 10:22:48 PM
i thought most people were getting to places around 8pm or so?
11/23/2007 10:25:12 PM
only BB,CC and CompUSA had people there that earlymost other stores, OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, etc. people get there after midnight-3am or so
11/23/2007 11:49:53 PM
man, i really need a new computer. mine won't stay connected to our wireless network, and it turns off on its own about once every hour or two. i'm pretty sure i'm also hearing the beginnings of a death rattle from one of the hard drives (thankfully I have them mirrored with RAID, so i won't lose data if it does shit the bed completely).what's my best bet on a laptop at this point? baby's mama has all my money, so I gotta do this on the cheap. should i go with eBay? craigslist for a slightly used one? look for Cyber Monday deals, or other holiday season sales (to include any after Christmas sales--I can hold out for another month if I have to by borrowing either of my roommates' spare laptops when I need to).
11/24/2007 12:21:26 AM
i'm hoping for a good deal on a nice dell lappy before Christmasalready been saving up for one for awhile
11/24/2007 1:31:41 AM
what up poor people
11/24/2007 2:53:20 AM
^^^ How much are you looking to spend? Dell and HP both have base models at ~$500.You can always check out the NEX even though their Thanksgiving flyer didn't look that impressive.
11/24/2007 9:37:26 AM
i either want to stay in the $300-350 (maybe $400 if i have to) range or get something better than a base model.[Edited on November 25, 2007 at 3:49 PM. Reason : and yeah, the NEX didn't really have any deals]
11/25/2007 3:49:04 PM
is buying used an option? only asking cause 300-350 is pretty low...even for black friday standards[Edited on November 25, 2007 at 4:00 PM. Reason : for a laptop]
11/25/2007 4:00:19 PM
buying used is an option, but then i expect even more for my moneythere were several deals in the $300-400 range on BF...i just missed them all.
11/25/2007 4:27:01 PM
nex aka px/bx/aafes? BF might have been interesting at these exchanges saving on tax and what not, if they still do this.
11/25/2007 5:08:22 PM
NEX/PX/BX/AAFES is tax free. Their prices usually aren't that great of a deal, though. At least not in CONUS.Overseas, however....
11/25/2007 5:46:21 PM
they're often a little cheaper on small, day-to-day items. the commissary is definitely cheaper than most grocery stores.big ticket stuff like TVs and computers can often be found cheaper elsewhere, from what i've seen.
