okay, so I hit a curb the other day, pretty hard, hard enough to bend the rim.Flat tire is not a problem. The problem is it won't turn over. I checked the battery with a meter, 11.62 Volts, there is, and has been, corrosion on the red terminal. And when I looked at it yesterday it had a blue tint, instead of white. I tried jumping it off my buddies car and no luck. If it was the alternator gone bad I think that the battery would have had no voltage.I am going to try cleaning the terminal, but doubt that will solve the problem. What can you mess up electronically by hitting a curb? Would a 93 Ford Escort have a fuel cuttoff switch?AHHHH!?!?!?

12.7 volts when the car is off is a fully charged battery, your battery is dead, your terminals are also not providing a good connection. replace all of the above.

you gotta run your car into the curb pretty hard to knock 1.1V out of the battery.

But if it is a Ford, then it does have an inertia switch.

fuel pump probably got jumbled to hell.its just waiting to explode

will it crank over? the inertia switch only cuts off the fuel pump

my 89 bronco II had one. need some further info:do you even hear any clicking? like the starter solenoid? or nothing?no clicking and good battery = inertia switch, or a bad solenoidclicking = dead battery or bad starterif its a stick try roll starting it. still wont start then most likely the inertia switch

I found the fuel cutoff switch, switched it back onCleaned the battery terminals and cables, starts againand made a trip out to LKQ and pulled a rim with a decent tire on it, problem is fixedThere were soooo many Escorts in the junk yard, not a good signbut mine runs again, for now.

^You DO realize that they made a metric shit-ton of them, and that's one reason there are so many in the junkyard. They ain't bad cars if maintained properly, but they ain't my first choice either.
