Have any of you had any permanent cosmetics done? Are there any offices in Durham or Raleigh that perform these procedures? Also, how much did it cost you?

I was looking around and found a place in Youngsville, that had decent prices. $350 for top and bottom eyeliner. Thats not too bad, but thats all I want done.

**And to all of you who want to bitch and complain about tattoos and desecrating the body, keep your remarks to yourself**

I'm acquainted with a girl who has permanent eyeliner and I *think* some of her eyebrows filled in (because they're so sparse and light). Her permanent cosmetics look really fantastic, but I have seen some that look just awful. She worked in a spa type setting as a massage therapist and I think that she traded skills with one of the other girls that worked there. I don't know where she had it done, but I know that there are a number of places in the Raleigh area that offer it.

I have a friend who had this done and loved it - fwiw, they are 'permanent' in the same way a permanent wave is, i.e. not really. J. had to have it done every six-nine months. She did the eyeliner and lip color.

Just from observing her, I'd probably avoid the bottom eyeliner, but then again I don't like that look.

The lip never looks natural.

I think that the lip liner is for people who always wear lipstick. I'm not a huge fan of the lip liner. But being a girl who use to live in black eyeliner, I can definitely see why you'd get eyeliner done.

Permanent make up should last much longer than 6-9 months. It's like any other tattoo. It looks bright and over done at first (think whore), but then fades to something that's more natural in a couple of weeks. If you protect them from the sun (like any tattoo) the color will hold up longer. Wiki states that you should not get any significant fade of permanent cosmetics for at least a decade.

^ I'm not talking about eyebrows, just eyeliner

yeah, I definetly wouldnt get my lips done, I only want my eyeliner done. I have the hardest time keeping eyeliner on, and if I wear my contacts while wearing eyeliner, I become VERY irritated.

http://www.permanentmakeupnc.com/ this is the website I mentioned before - and the results look really good. Free touch ups for the first 6 months and the price isnt so bad after. Also, I read that the darker the eyeliner, the longer it lasts (of course its not as bright, but it can last over 8 years without having to get it redone). I'll probably want really dark eyeliner, just not very heavy.

I'm sure theres got to be someone on here who has had it done, I just want to find someone with personal experience before I make an appt. for a consultation.

Also, a lot of people say they regret it, but hey, its easy to cover up if it doesnt look good. You can always wear more eyeliner over top of it or change the color, and it also helps for guidelines in putting it on.

The issue of it being a 'tattoo' is nothing to me. I have 15 right now, which are absolutely beautiful, and I'm very proud of.

This is the look for eyeliner that I love. I'm tired of the crappy looking lines that never turn out right.

If I ever had this done, I'd probably only get the top lid of my eyeliner

I'm funky about the bottom, and don't wear it 3/4 of the time anyway.

PS... I have a great 'liquid liner' that works like a dream if you want to give it a shot first.... I used to have the same issue, but now it's no problem.

Two things occur to me.

1) Permanent cosmetics. Seems like women often complain about how men's fashion and style is nearly timeless whereas women have to update their look to fit in with whatever it is that is in style at the time. Getting a permanent tattoo of something that is sure to go out of style for women in a decade seems to be a bit foolish.

I guess eyeliner is eyeliner, I really don't know if that aspect of a woman's appearance changes with the times. Like the first reply says, do you really want to look like a girl from the 80's for the rest of your life?

2) Permanent cosmetics... and you are wanting to cheap out by going to a place in Youngsville? Like bottombaby said, I'm sure there are good artists and there are bad ones. I imagine that it is no different than getting any tattoo. So again, since it is permanent, you probably don't want to skimp on this.

Oh, I see. It only lasts about 9 months? In that case you can just revise my "don't" statement to:

3) It's a waste of money.

I also think it's a waste of money. It doesn't take that long to apply it yourself.

i know a woman who got her eyeliner tatooed on recently, by a very reputable woman. She loves having her top lashes done but really regrets the bottom. She says she feels like she has been at the nightclub and she was told it wasn't reversable.

Dont do your bottom. It looks slutty anyway

liquid liner gives you a smooth thin line (i HATE thick eyeliner) and it has never bothered my contacts. it stays put and is really quick and easy to apply. i agree with whoever said to try that first. i used to only use liquid liners because the black gave a very natural look of elongating my eyelashes without it being obvious that i was wearing eyeliner. now i prefer the softer look of a pencil or wet shadow

i just can't stand the fact of having something permanent on my face. also i like to use different colors of eyeliner for day/night/going out/etc. browns and grays for day and black for night.. i also have a really dark purple that i love by bobbi brown.
i would hate to end up with something that looked really harsh. plus playing with makeup and colors can be fun

if you decide to get it done i would get the top lid done first and see how you like it and then do the bottom lid later. i don't really like eyeliner under my eyes anyways except on certain ocassions when i go out at night and then i want it really thin.

anyways i could talk makeup all day so i will shut up now. good luck either way.
