if you got a test back and the professor/ta who graded it did the math wrong and accidently gave you 10 extra points would you tell them?hypothetically
11/13/2007 2:49:05 PM
even if you did, it's unlikely they would "take them back"
11/13/2007 2:49:52 PM
Fuck no.
nobut bitch like hell if they gave you less of a grade than you earned.
11/13/2007 2:49:54 PM
probably
11/13/2007 2:49:55 PM
[no]
11/13/2007 2:50:02 PM
no. but most likely they wouldn't take them back.
11/13/2007 2:51:49 PM
If you want to get a lower grade for the term. If you approach someone in a position of power, and show them they are inadequate, or have inadequacies, they are sure to sub-consciously, or even consciously, be more prone to judging your future work more severly. You never make someone look bad that has the power to screw you. Be a ninja. Be there, but don't make a scene or get noticed. Take your ten points. It isn't ethics. It's survival.
11/13/2007 2:55:14 PM
yes. but they wouldnt take back the points. i hate lying
11/13/2007 2:55:28 PM
this reminds me of a conversation i just had on the phone, hahaha. the guy said "i had a bank error in my favor" in reference to having more cash than he thought originally. he didnt actually have a banlk error in his favor.back to the thread. you have to be paranoid and assume everything in life is a trap. so you take the points, but you also dont do silly stuff like carry around the test in your notebook showing where you did the math beside his/her math. you take your 10 points and leave the test at home in case you need it. cause karma will end up making you have a 0 on the test cause of an error saying you never took it. sounds crazy but i know bad karma well.back off topic. or to add a new tangent to go off on... always report bank errors in your favor. thats also why you should balance your books even if you dont live check to check. and now you are prepared much more for life the endlove jackleg
11/13/2007 2:55:37 PM

11/13/2007 2:57:46 PM
technically you did fuck up, but they didn't catch it
11/13/2007 2:58:52 PM

If a cop pulls you over and says he got you at 15 over, would you be like "Actually, sir, it was 25."
11/13/2007 3:01:16 PM
^my brother did this to me one time, and then tried to slip the cop a twenty to bump it up--i was not amused at the time
11/13/2007 3:02:54 PM
i wouldn't even consider it.
11/13/2007 3:04:22 PM
if you've even considered telling the professor, you must be crazy.the school system is flawed as it is. all youre doing is slaving through college to get a piece of paper saying you can work. take the grade and run with it.
11/13/2007 3:04:47 PM
and here i thought i was supposed to be learning something
11/13/2007 3:06:02 PM
you wouldn't be learning any more or any less regardless, so take what you can get.
11/13/2007 3:06:54 PM
11/13/2007 3:07:12 PM
For the classes I teach, barring exceptional circumstances, I'll let a student keep a grading error in their favor but I'll correct a grading error not in their favor.... unless I really don't like the student in question. Being nice to your instructors is worth something.
11/13/2007 4:00:45 PM
interesting
11/13/2007 4:08:11 PM
who the fuck is in here? DNL I'll pound your face in.

11/13/2007 4:43:04 PM
what are we supposed to be talking about taking a test? you fucking idiot you should pound your professors balls with a baseball bat.
11/13/2007 4:44:15 PM
^agreed.
11/13/2007 4:46:50 PM
When life gives you lemonade you don't remove the sugar so that you're left with lemon juice.
11/13/2007 5:01:48 PM
i've done this... and immediately regretted it
11/13/2007 5:08:09 PM
every teacher i've had accepted mistakes they made and kept my score the same
11/13/2007 5:32:03 PM
11/13/2007 5:33:26 PM
and remember this is just a hypothetical situation and such
11/13/2007 7:35:33 PM
did this hypothetical test involve questions about magnetic fields that would require the use of the right hand rule? Cause if so, I would have given you an extra 10 points for moral reasons.
