I guess everyone thinks 4 wins in a row is a flukeI dont know how Miami can be ranked at #50 after the shalacking (sp?) they got last weekend by the Cavaliers
11/13/2007 8:32:24 AM
wow, duke is 86 and notre dame is 88.surely i thought they were near last.
11/13/2007 8:34:19 AM
hell, i bet we were about 118 before this win streak
11/13/2007 8:39:48 AM
i approve of this backgroundgg
11/13/2007 8:48:54 AM
DROD900, the only thing that can really explain some of that is that they are only looking at a team's W-L and not what got them there.
11/13/2007 8:57:42 AM
yep, this matters

question about bowl eligibilityi know you have to be at least .500 to be bowl eligiblebut i thought wins against D1-AA / FCS schools didnt count towards that?if we go 6-6 will we be bowl eligible since our overall record is .500 or do we have to go 7-5 since that would be 6-5 over D1-A schools???
11/13/2007 11:50:16 AM
you have to win six games, only one can be against a 1-AA school
11/13/2007 11:52:03 AM
Could be just like 2 years ago when State and Maryland were both 5-6 and we had that last game in Raleigh to see who would go to the Continental Tire Bullshit Bowl.[Edited on November 13, 2007 at 11:56 AM. Reason : x]

11/13/2007 12:13:46 PM
i don't think that's true at all
11/13/2007 12:17:47 PM
it makes sensebig schools didnt get anything for scheduling those teams early in the season. not only that...it was a big payday for said D1-AA schools. if the big school loses...it loses a game and money.if they win..it counts towards a bowlpretty simple logic
11/13/2007 12:22:51 PM
well i guess it makes sense your world of not knowing shit about sportsbut you see, the previous rule was that a 1A school could schedule multiple 1AA schools with no penalties -- although rarely did that happenwhen the NCAA allowed for 12 games to played, they decided to nip that in the bud, allowing only one 1AA victory to countthat's even better logic, because that's what happened
11/13/2007 12:26:14 PM
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
11/13/2007 12:27:21 PM
no, that makes a lot more senseand i could have looked that up just as easily as you did but alas my lazy ass didnt
11/13/2007 12:27:33 PM
yeah i looked it upIN MY BRAIN
11/13/2007 12:28:21 PM
They used to allow one 1-AA win to count every three years I think. It was changed to every year a few years ago.
11/13/2007 12:28:54 PM
it's every 2 years you can use a division 1aa win
11/13/2007 12:39:50 PM
no, one 1-AA win per year counts towards eligibility

Either way we didn't use the 1-AA win last year so Wofford can count toward this year.
11/13/2007 12:54:12 PM
1 per year is correct. must've been 2 some other time. oh well [Edited on November 13, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Reason : hi]
11/13/2007 12:55:14 PM
Don't expect to be linked to a fact most people know...look it up yourself if you have any doubtIt's one 1-AA win per year, everyone knows thatExcept for retards and Pam Ward[Edited on November 13, 2007 at 12:56 PM. Reason : x]

back to the issue at handlet's get the rules clear, because people are spouting nonsense like last year's wofford win counting towards this year's bowl eligibilityto be bowl eligible you need six wins, one 1-AA win per year counts towards that totalyou can't use wins from previous years, nor could you eversix wins doesn't guarantee a berth, of course -- premier bowls are given first pick, lesser bowls are allowed to choose from remaining qualified teams in order of prioritythose are the facts, google if you want[Edited on November 13, 2007 at 1:13 PM. 11/13/2007 1:11:28 PM
All true, but it should also be noted that a team's record or finish within the conference doesn't determine which bowl they go to. If a team is 7-5 and is 5th in the conference, the bowl with the 3rd pick can take that team if they think they'll get more fans and more money than they would from the higher ranked team who was 8-4 and 4th in the conference. Its always about the fucking dollar.
11/13/2007 1:15:25 PM
the unc win on sat. was > any continental tire toilet bowl we've ever been to. that said.. i'll take another continental bowl just so i don't have to drive the whole country to watch
11/13/2007 1:16:01 PM
^^exactly
11/13/2007 1:16:16 PM
Right, I just added that since a lot of people are still under the impression that your record directly determines what bowl you go to.I bet Rat was one of those people.

Smart schools have and will continue to schedule bottom-tier 1-A teams instead of 1-AA teams because they don't provide that much more of a challenge but they still count towards bowl eligibility.Western Kentucky or App State? You'd rather play Western Kentucky, and it counts toward a bowl.[Edited on November 13, 2007 at 1:31 PM. beating wofford.. lolwe still gave up the 70 yard TD pass during that game too didn't we... wow, we get big-played at least 1x per game no matter who it is.I just hope we don't play Smith Center High School in a bowl game. They'd probably beat us.
11/13/2007 1:35:40 PM
yeah cause clearly we are no better now with a 4 game win streak than we were at the beginning of the season...my nephew's preschool could beat us by 100]
11/13/2007 1:41:17 PM
is your nephews preschool team anything like smith center high school?if so, then yes
