8 PS3s, a controller system, Yellowdog Linux, and a theoretical performance of greater than 1 TFlop. The PS3s are only a fraction of the price of this, but it's a turn-key solution... Most mainframe systems with this much power are at least an order of magnitude higher in price.http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/store/index.php?submit=software&submitimg[hardware][solutions]=1[Edited on November 11, 2007 at 11:09 PM. And specialized ancillary processors, impressive fault tolerance, a wide arrange of support services... I mean this is neat and all, but people have been doing beowulf ps2 clusters for a while now. They tend to be more cost effective than high end desktop clusters from some analyses, but the fact that they don't seem to catch on seems to suggest that their low cost might not make up for other problems.[Edited on November 11, 2007 at 11:33 PM. ha, i think the sillier thing is that there is a 32 unit system right under that 8 unit one youre talking about....if youre trying to buy a 42k computer rather than a lot of other shit.

haha thats pretty funny but i think they both use blue lasers it would be funnier if they were like green and red then you could make starwars battles w/ them

haha, just like GI Joe, where all the bad guys always had red lasers.

You could set this up yourself for like 5 grand. Why pay another 10 grand so someone will do it for you?
