didn't hurt us for once [Edited on November 10, 2007 at 3:43 PM. Reason : UNC-Ref conspiracy is now the NCSU-Ref conspiracy]

I'm not really sure why that wasn't a TD for UNC... he had the catch. Not that I'm complaining but we got away with one by the rules...[Edited on November 10, 2007 at 3:35 PM. Reason : and before you bitch at me... read the rulebook.]
11/10/2007 3:34:41 PM
They weren't not terrible though.
11/10/2007 3:34:44 PM
what rule exactly? ground cannot cause a fumble but it can cause and incompletion.
11/10/2007 3:40:21 PM
nym did you even see the play in normal speed??in slow motion it obviously makes it look like a catch .... just watch it again
11/10/2007 3:40:52 PM
^^^^i've seen countless plays on the sidelines ruled incompletions when the receiver loses possession as he hits the ground. i cant imagine its any different in the endzone instead of on the sideline.[Edited on November 10, 2007 at 3:41 PM. Reason : .]
11/10/2007 3:41:25 PM
exactly ^,it's no different than an open field tackle incompletion forced by never having full posession. it was even reviewed.. JUST WATCH IT AGAIN AND GET A RULE BOOK BUDDY
11/10/2007 3:43:08 PM
NyM410, are you a closet carolina homo?
11/10/2007 3:43:40 PM
I dont know all the rules, but I do know that when that player got up, I dont remember him bitching at the ref. Looked to me like he knew it was incomplete. And in the replays, the ball spits out so fast around the time he hit the ground, its hard to determine exactly when it came out. I say good call.
11/10/2007 3:44:47 PM
you have to come to the ground w/ posession of the ball, he didnt
11/10/2007 3:45:50 PM
he didn't catch the footballit's not rocket science
11/10/2007 3:46:32 PM
speaking of refs, ohio state just got screwed and didnt get a review in on an obvious fumble, but that makes me happy
11/10/2007 3:47:35 PM
Aficionado, he's pretty open about being a Heels fan.
11/10/2007 3:47:39 PM
you can't establish possession in the air, which is why your feet have to come down inbounds
11/10/2007 3:51:30 PM
i thought it wouldve been a TD if there wasnt a defender there since he had possession for a short time, but if theres a defender right in the play you have to maintain possession?
11/10/2007 4:01:42 PM
if there wasn't a defender there HE STILL LET GO BEFORE HE TOUCHED THE GROUNDif there wasn't a defender there they may have assumed the ground forced it out but it didn't
11/10/2007 4:05:47 PM
11/10/2007 4:06:03 PM
The location of the ball is partially obscured by his arms and torso while he's coming down, but look how far the ball is away from him IMMEDIATELY after he hits the ground. It had to be coming out before he hit, there is no way he established control.
11/10/2007 4:17:04 PM
hey, he's a METS fan too obviously. today and THE ENTIRE BASEBALL season must've sucked for him...
11/10/2007 4:19:15 PM
I no longer felt like sending the refs a Christmas card when they called that 65 yard punt return back to the 5 yard line.
11/10/2007 4:20:20 PM
The entire baseball season sucks for me every year.
11/10/2007 4:21:06 PM
Guess what!? I don't care if the refs missed the call, got it correct or what, b/c it is a WIN AGAINST THE HEELS BABY! WOOOO
11/10/2007 4:27:21 PM
the refs were horrible, but at least they made shitty no-calls evenly for both teams. They let a lot of pass interference calls go when our secondary was getting burned, and they let our punter get hit by two people at once without calling anything.I still don't believe the waved off intentional grounding went past the line of scrimmage, but it was hard to tell from where I was sitting.

Here are the rules for a completion. Its pretty clear the refs got the UNC incompletion correct. From the NCAA 2007 football rulebook:Catch, Interception, RecoveryARTICLE 7. A catch is an act of firmly establishing player possession of alive ball in flight.c. To catch, intercept or recover a ball, a player who leaves his feet tomake a catch, interception or recovery must have the ball firmly in hispossession when he first returns to the ground inbounds with any part of his body or is so held that the dead-ball provisions of Rule 4-1-3-p apply(A.R. 2-2-7-I-V and A.R. 7-3-6-IV).2. Loss of ball simultaneous to returning to the ground is not a catch, interception or recovery.Perhaps heel fans take after their coaches. They both seem to not know the rules. However, with ole Roy, it gets him out of jams to claim he doesnt.
11/10/2007 7:15:53 PM
ha, I call bullshit on that intentional grounding. That ball clearly bounced short of the marker for the LOS.
11/10/2007 7:24:00 PM
11/10/2007 7:54:37 PM
the fucking grouding no-call was absolutely the worst call of the game. that probably would have won us the game right there.
11/10/2007 7:55:17 PM
^^^^ thank you. I was too lazy to actually look up the rule and wanted to piss someone else off into looking it up...Good call and GREAT win.. TOB is the man.[Edited on November 10, 2007 at 7:57 PM. Reason : i hate boston college and every single one of their fans.]

just because the punter landed on the guy doesn't mean it wasn't a roughing the kicker penalty. You can't just slide underneath him and take his legs out on his descent.
