Do you keep track at all? I was trying to answer that question and also see how much less I would spend if I got a more fuel efficent car...ended up making a spreadsheet cause I was bored. You can view it hereIf you want to put in your own numbers and see how much you spend you can download it hereI think I currently spend a little under $3,000 per year in gas. How much do you spend?]
11/8/2007 2:30:31 PM
Probably ~1200
11/8/2007 2:33:25 PM
how many miles/year do you drive? mpg?
11/8/2007 2:34:33 PM
id say around $750.[Edited on November 8, 2007 at 2:36 PM. Reason : d]
11/8/2007 2:36:33 PM
I think I get about 20 mpg and drive about 160 miles per week.
11/8/2007 2:37:27 PM
i don't really keep track but i make about 1 trip to the gas station each month, which is never over $30, usually about $25-27. when we go to the beach or raleigh or somewhere, that's extra gas...so i'm going to say maybe 10 extra trips...so, (12*27) + (10*27) = $594i live in a small town and less than a mile from work. i drive a 2006 honda civic.
11/8/2007 2:37:51 PM
between the wife & myself, around $2,600-$3,000, but we do tend to travel a lot
11/8/2007 2:38:53 PM
If I take how much I spent last month and do an average, thats like 1800-2000 a year.I get 28 miles/gallon and fill up about 5 times a month if I don't leave Raleigh.
11/8/2007 3:06:29 PM
yeah i need to look over my credit card statements and see how much i actually spent instead of doing estimates.
11/8/2007 3:13:59 PM
like $3000 i think
11/8/2007 3:14:17 PM
Scooter:($3/week)*(52 weeks) = $156Car:($50/month)*(12 months) = $600Total:$750 a year (give or take)
11/8/2007 3:17:03 PM
Very rough estimate of $2100 for the past year, but it's hard to guess at my average mpg because the highway and city for my car are pretty far apart (usually 14-15 mpg city, 22-23 highway) and I'm not really sure how to get an accurate split of city/highway percentage of total miles traveled.Sigh.
11/8/2007 3:39:48 PM
since march I've spent an average of ~$150/month on gas, and I don't really do any out of the ordinary driving, mostly school and back.In a year, easily 17-1800 bucksSUV.....
11/8/2007 3:43:45 PM
maaybe $500 bucks
11/8/2007 3:44:32 PM
first guess: ( 10000mpy / 14mpg ) * 3usd/gal = $2142.86/yri fill up every 3 weeks - 28g * 3usd = $8452 / 3 = 17.33 * $84 = $1500/yr.i guess i just don't ever drive my tahoe. i drive 15 miles per day average.15m/day * 365 = only 5475m/year = 391 gallons per year = $1200/yrexample of how i can get 3 completely different estimates [Edited on November 8, 2007 at 3:51 PM. 11/8/2007 3:47:06 PM
about $3000
11/8/2007 3:48:38 PM
I pay around $1200/year for gas, and I drive around 12000 miles/year. Luckily, my car gets around 30 mpg.
11/8/2007 3:49:59 PM
looking at my quicken last year for fuel, $3,124.44
11/8/2007 3:51:49 PM
About a dolla fiddy
11/8/2007 3:53:04 PM
gf's cousin was spending $800/month
11/8/2007 4:17:22 PM
^does s/he drive a hummer?
11/8/2007 4:37:30 PM
Damn. And I thought I knew someone who used a lot of gas (works in Greensboro, lives in Raleigh). He certainly doesn't spend $800/month though.
11/8/2007 4:46:10 PM
I was spending $300-400/month during extended boating season... Citicards with Gas rebates add up freaking quick... My truck got 13mpg and was my daily driver and then my boat ate 4GPH pulling people and we would run 3-4 hours 2-3x's a week...but now I drive ~400miles/month and get 36mpg ($400/year)...quite a change (I LOVE my civic)
11/8/2007 4:49:25 PM
Do you really get 36 mpg, I love my civic but I don't get near what those lame ass gov tests say.
11/8/2007 4:50:08 PM
he has to drive for his job (school system IT dude), and was driving a 90's z71... so probably 12ish mpg
11/8/2007 4:50:33 PM
~$2250 extrapolated for the year
11/8/2007 6:21:08 PM
11/8/2007 6:28:47 PM
Probably about $600 a year between two vehicles (now that I've gotten rid of my V8 Rovers)
11/8/2007 6:37:39 PM
probably around $3000but it is ~70 mile round trip for me to go to work
11/8/2007 6:39:07 PM
my credit card offered a breakdown that i viewed last year where you could sort transactions by type for the whole year (gas, entertainment, restaurants, retail) and i remember spending a couple thousand on gasi won't spend money on gas for the next 7 years (company car for the winnnn)
11/8/2007 7:02:22 PM
i'd say i probably spend 600-700 a month. yearbut it seems like i've been going out of town every weekend recently, so i don't know.[Edited on November 8, 2007 at 7:59 PM. Reason : oops]
11/8/2007 7:59:23 PM
I don't drive a lot, so a tank lasts forever - but at $58-$65 per tank, it still feels like a ton of change.I'd say $1300ish +/- 200
11/8/2007 11:57:27 PM
probably about 1300 or soabout 100 a month and then 100 on top of that just cause i suck at estimating[Edited on November 9, 2007 at 12:22 AM. Reason : .]
11/9/2007 12:10:40 AM
$1400 or so
11/9/2007 9:44:48 AM
I drive about 18000 miles per year in my Jeep Wrangler, which lets say gets 18 mpg, equates to 1000 gallons of gasoline. If we say an average price of $2.70, that would be $2700.
11/9/2007 9:48:28 AM
At the rate I'm going, probably about 5-6k.But I work in Rocky Mount, while living here.
11/9/2007 11:57:02 AM
I drive about 26,000 miles/year and get 33mpg, so thats 788 gallons of gas at $3 (?) each is ~$2,300.I don't even drive a "gas guzzler"... that sounds like a lot of gas.
11/9/2007 2:13:53 PM
11/9/2007 2:49:30 PM
I've driven around 10K miles in 4 months and get about 24mpg, somebody else can do the math on actual cost, I'd rather be ignorant
11/9/2007 2:52:30 PM
my car ~ $40/week or $2,000/yearwife's car ~ $40/week or $2,000/yearTotal: $4,000/year Hallelujah! Jesus help me!Thanks for ruining my day
11/9/2007 3:53:38 PM
Since I'm a bike commuter, and my car makes a pretty lawn ornament most of the time, I'd say I spend not even $30/month for average use (driving from Durham to Raleigh and back to see the boy, and hauling bikes.). However, I do drive for road trips, probably spend $100 a few times a year on those.
11/9/2007 7:36:49 PM
52 weeks a year, i get $10 of gas each week for the whole week at around 35 mpgso thats $520add in the occasional trip elsewhere...so lets say at the MOST $650
11/9/2007 7:40:05 PM

11/9/2007 8:00:21 PM
According to MS Money, 661.52
11/9/2007 8:12:25 PM
I don't even want to know, but in the last year we put 24,000 miles on my F-150, about 30,000 on my wife's town car, and a few more on farm trucks, beater car.
11/9/2007 8:14:56 PM
bout $70 a week[Edited on November 9, 2007 at 11:06 PM. Reason : 105 miles round trip for work >.<]
11/9/2007 11:05:47 PM
my grand am gets decent mileage, about 90-120 a month, so at the most, 1500 or so
11/9/2007 11:07:35 PM
I spend about $60-70/month (equiv. of two tanks) on gas b/c I don't drive too much outside of Raleigh, but I do drive. So I guess around $720-840 a year.
11/9/2007 11:15:53 PM
I can fill up for no more than $30 roughly every 2 weeks. So I guess no more than $720 yearly on fuel.I drive a Chevy Aveo5 if anybody cares. It gets around 29 mpg on average. Its also one of the cheapest priced cars on the market too. Great little car, has a built in mp3 player which I thought was awesome.
11/9/2007 11:48:53 PM
I probably blow around 3000 to 4000 yearly on gas/diesel.
