Every CA graduate that I've ever met has been a huge dork.Actually a weird mix of great self confidence and complete naivety.
11/7/2007 2:54:16 PM
now you just have to work for SAS evan
11/7/2007 2:55:20 PM
i already do
11/7/2007 2:55:47 PM
I hope you can afford $16,000 - $17,000 a year in tuition.
11/7/2007 2:56:17 PM
it's 15,800and yeah, when i have kids, that shouldn't be a problem - i'm going to be a surgeon]
11/7/2007 2:56:31 PM
11/7/2007 2:57:28 PM
i don't know any CA kids, but we always creamed them in athletics.i broke my lacrosse stick checking one of their players in a game last year.there are cool/lame kids in every school though.
11/7/2007 2:58:00 PM
yeahi went to private school up until 9th gradeit was around the same price, if not more... my parents never would tell mei really think you get a superior education by going to a private school... but that's just me
11/7/2007 2:58:39 PM
11/7/2007 2:59:41 PM
oh and also me and j gray started singing (Crank Dat) Souldja Boy during the workshopholy shit they went crazy
11/7/2007 3:00:09 PM
Yeah, but that's just base tuition and doesn't include other fees. I can think of a lot that I would much rather do for my family than spend it on tuition. All of the travel and summer enrichment and lessons you offer for that much money. And uh, most of the private school kids that I knew/know ended up dropping out of college because they were so strung out on drugs.[Edited on November 7, 2007 at 3:02 PM. Reason : druggies.]
11/7/2007 3:00:53 PM
they have financial aid as well
11/7/2007 3:02:48 PM
no, the 15,800 is all fees and tuition. i was talking to some of the people there today.i'd rather my kids have the same quality of education that i hadand we'll still go on trips and whatnot... duh.do you realize how much surgeons make?
11/7/2007 3:03:08 PM
you should be an orthodontist
11/7/2007 3:04:00 PM
durrr a lot, but it has very little to do with HSmore to do with the 12 years of post secondary education they get
11/7/2007 3:05:21 PM
naaaaah, too boringtrauma surgery is where it's ati was gonna be a neurosurgeon but i was told by a friend's dad (who is a cardio surgeon) that i wasn't nerdy enough to be a neurosurgeon.
11/7/2007 3:06:14 PM
I feel that private schools offer a homogenized environment that does not reflect what a child will encounter once leaving that environment. But I come from a very strong public school background and I'm educated as a public school teacher and come from a long line of them. And this is Cary Academy's published tuition and fees: http://www.caryacademy.org/admissions/PDF/Tuition_Fees_07-08.pdf
11/7/2007 3:06:36 PM
HUGE drug schoolHUGE
11/7/2007 3:06:44 PM
Evan,If your only reason for pursuing the career of a surgeon is the money, you might want to rethink it.
11/7/2007 3:07:11 PM
i never said that was the only reason.it's just a nice bonus.i do it because i love it.
11/7/2007 3:08:18 PM
I went to a private school, then again i've traveled more than most of you, in addition to being actively exposed to more cultures and different kinds of people.i think public elementary schools are a good idea, even possibly middle school.private HS ftw
11/7/2007 3:08:24 PM
oh, okay, i'm sorry, 16,850i was off by $1000, lol. not a big deal.
11/7/2007 3:09:00 PM
Evan,Have you taken Organic I and II yet?
11/7/2007 3:10:16 PM
yep. had novak for both, that man is awesome. why do you ask?]
11/7/2007 3:10:38 PM
^^^^precisely the type of response of why i'm glad i went to public school[Edited on November 7, 2007 at 3:12 PM. Reason : ^^]
11/7/2007 3:12:24 PM
Just checking. Some people think they want to pursue a career in medicine and think twice when they hit Orgo, you know?
11/7/2007 3:14:13 PM
I had Sankar for I ughhh :-(.
11/7/2007 3:14:50 PM
that's exactly why med schools require orgo chem it's a weed out class.
11/7/2007 3:15:06 PM
Yeah, I had my fair share of weedout courses in engineering.
11/7/2007 3:15:46 PM
i'm in organic II right now, it wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't onlinedistance education FTL
11/7/2007 3:16:32 PM
Who do you have Peter?
11/7/2007 3:17:12 PM
hahahayeah, orgo chem is one of those classes you REALLY want to have an actual lecture in. you've got sandberg right? her lecture section is WAY easier.basically: take novak if you want to actually know the shit, take sandberg if you just want to pass the class.it helps quite a bit.if you ever need any help peter, lemme know. [no homo]]
11/7/2007 3:17:37 PM
Evan,What courses are you taking now?
11/7/2007 3:18:11 PM
just a bunch of GRE stuff this semester, i had a lot going on outside of school and just wanted an easy semester.
11/7/2007 3:18:53 PM
i have sandberg, the lectures aren't that bad at all and i estimate it'd be the same as if i was there. its the lack of frills (classmates, office hours) that makes it ftl.i had novak for organic and I he was awesome, although I didn't as well as i should've if my friends weren't in there to distract me, lolnovak definitely teaches you the stuff, where sandberg i have the feeling that if you memorize the mechanisms/reactions you'll pass the class-also, the coops wanting to go out all the time makes it hard to focus, haha[Edited on November 7, 2007 at 3:23 PM. Reason : lawl]

11/7/2007 3:20:19 PM
Where are you looking to apply for med school? I really want to get in to UNC, but I heard ECU is a good option too.
11/7/2007 3:21:43 PM
naiveté
11/7/2007 3:22:39 PM
probably next yeari'd love to go to bowman gray... well, i'd LOVE to go to johns hopkins, but that's not gonna happen. almost went there for undergrad, though.carolina is my second choice, although i'm not too fond of going to carolina...ECU is my backup plan. brody school of medicine isn't known for producing quality medical doctors, haha.i've taken tours at all but bowman gray, carolina is indeed pretty awesome, and the med students were really nice
11/7/2007 3:24:24 PM
^^ It emphasized the point in a comedic fashion.
11/7/2007 3:25:15 PM
Yeah I'd like to attend Wake, but the cost is like whoah. I've heard the Brody School of Med is getting better.
11/7/2007 3:25:56 PM
it's actually "naiveness"
11/7/2007 3:27:05 PM

Yeah I took the thread off topic haha.
11/7/2007 3:28:54 PM
ahahaha i'd rather work at SAS for the rest of my life than go to a carribbean med school
