is this the weakest FA class ever? there are hardly 5 guys worth getting excited over. love him or hate him, A-Rod is obviously in that group, followed by Hunter and maybe andruw. after that, it drops quickly. if this were 3 or 4 years ago, the SP crop would be unbelievable, but now all those guys are old and less than impressive. rivera is probly on that short list, but he's old. for some reason, i like cordero, he's younger and has been great the past couple of years. other than that, teams don't have alot to hope for.

^^ eat a penis^ there will be a lot more added to the list once they declare[Edited on November 2, 2007 at 7:31 AM. Reason : .]

i hope the A's grab a FA or two. because damn, we need some help. i've heard the A's mention Wilkerson (that's all we need, another 1B/OF)...
11/2/2007 7:37:21 AM
This offseason's FA Pitching has been one of the better ones that I can remember. Schilling, Colon, Rivera, Cordero... will be interesting to see which team loads up their rotations and 'pens.
11/2/2007 9:23:51 AM
rowand over andruw... andruw is fading fast but someone will still give him a 5 yr contract

Contract year + CBP = career year offensively. If anyone thinks Rowand is going to be worth anywhere near the $$$ he'll command they are insane. He's a great guy, busts his ass and his grittiness offsets his lack of pure athletic ability defensively but he isn't in the Hunter/Andruw/Beltran class...
11/2/2007 11:31:55 AM
Troy Percival is a free agent and he had a badass year for my Cards.
11/2/2007 11:35:21 AM
prolly throw miguel cabrera into the mix

11/2/2007 11:55:46 AM
^Torii Hunter had a pretty damn good year and is every bit the CF that Jones is..287 BA 28 Homers 107 RBIs 18 SBs.....pretty similar to Andruw's numbers except the average[Edited on November 2, 2007 at 12:00 PM. Reason : Hunter is easily better than Rowand][Edited on November 2, 2007 at 12:20 PM. Reason : VV I knew that I was just pointing out how good Hunter was this year]
11/2/2007 11:59:32 AM
i'm just waiting on the Mitchell Report to see how it effects both FA and trades...

zumaya was hurt during the fires in california and has had shoulder surgery, he's expected to be out until midseasonthis guy is the master of freak injuries[Edited on November 2, 2007 at 12:39 PM. Reason : buster olney says it's pretty serious, could end his career]
11/2/2007 12:38:03 PM

11/2/2007 12:44:57 PM

Here is an interesting name being dangled out here. Lincecum is available. The Marlins love young players who they can controll for a long time. Lincecum would have 2 full years before arbitration and 3 more before free agency.Miguel Cabrera is on the cusp of becoming eligible for free agency (I think after '09 he is) and is already due a huge raise via arbitration. The Giants need to replace Bonds with another big bat.Maybe some deal including Lincecum and Miggy would be doable...
11/2/2007 4:04:07 PM
^^ ha ha he called Ernie a troll. Sorry dude he is not a troll. Also:
11/2/2007 4:05:45 PM

11/2/2007 4:13:33 PM
This morning on KNBR 680 and then saw it on metsblog (the site you love).

"Fukudome"Bonds to the A's looks like a strong possibility if he stays out of jail. As an A's fan, I would like to see Bonds' bat in the lineup... but thats about it. Scared he will bring too much baggage to such a laid back club.
12/12/2007 10:25:26 AM
Astros acquire Miguel Tejada for Luke Scott and 4 others.
12/12/2007 1:13:41 PM
pretty much a wash for the O's
12/12/2007 1:34:02 PM
^ nah, I think the O's did a good job here. They got some young arms, a decent outfielder in Scott with good OBP and a pretty good 3B prospect... plus they drop Tejada's salary just as it was starting to become a burden. I like it personally
12/12/2007 1:47:10 PM
Luke Scott sucks. Troy Patton is the star of the deal for the Os.
