With the flu shot you get a cold for 365 days a year. You can't get the flu because you constantly have a cold.
11/1/2007 11:58:13 AM
The one time I got a flu shot was the one time I got the flu, and otherwise I had avoided getting any communicable diseases that year.
11/1/2007 12:00:53 PM
Sure, wouldn't hurt.
11/1/2007 12:02:25 PM
I don't see any reason not to, unless you're one of the small minority that is allergic, or unless you're just a big pussy and don't like needles.I got mine, didn't even feel it, and I think it's worth it even if it only might prevent you from getting the flu, because I don't have time for that shit.
11/1/2007 12:20:07 PM
You're too young - your immune system needs to fight off things like the flu at this age so when you're finally old enough to warrant getting the shot your immune system won't be so weak that you are constantly getting sick.
11/1/2007 12:31:23 PM
dag I haven't seen Robusto post in like thirty years.

maybe someone can elaborate more on this...but usually vaccines tend to have small amounts of whatever they are fighting, in them, so you can build tolerance.you dont get the flu from a flu shot, but you get some symptoms. some could be allergic reactions.[Edited on November 1, 2007 at 1:12 PM. Reason : seems like it would be the case with the flu. ]
11/1/2007 1:08:06 PM
flu shots have completely killed versions of the flu virus, so i would think any reactions are probably allergic rather than 'flu-like' if the virus is dead and cannot be passed to anyone else.Something to think about for people who fear needles, the nasal spray version of the flu virus is actually weakened live virus and can, rarely, be passed to others just from getting teh vaccine.
