So my Altima failed inspection b/c the it would not connect with the inspection computer. The shop checked the fuses but told me they are all good. Where is the communication port? What might be the problem?

check the fuses yourself to verify. 9 times out of 10 that's the problem. on a lot of cars, it's the same fuse as the cigarette lighter/power port. you'll find the link connection itself somewhere under the driver side dash. it's kind of a wide/narrow looking plug.

where did you take it? a lot of inspection people are too lazy to try and fix anything simple like a bulb or fuse, and will just fail the car.

I think it's called Capital Quick Lube on Peace near Finch's.

yeah, don't trust any place with "quick lube" in the title to have actually checked the fuses.

IF all the fuses are good, then its a wiring/connector problem somewhere or a bad computer

if you check "a" fuse it needs to be the cig lighter. it will be the only one you need to look for.

I checked all the fused (visual inspection) they all look good. If the computer was bad shouldn't there I should have problems with the engine running rough right?

Also, do I have to go back to the same inspection station?

^^ thank you for taking the obvious, which has beed stated once, quoted again, and expressing it as your new intelligent opinion

oh and a visual inspection doesnt do shit, unles you are actually pulling them out and looking at the strip, you cant tell from the top, the cig lighter 15 or 20 amp or ecm-2 fuse 5 amp, powers the obdII port pin, not a necessity for the computer to operate correctly

pulled them out and everything. There were three Eng Cont. fuses so I just checked them all. I appreciate the help.

^I don't get it, so was it a fuse or not?

I know this is a common thing on GM vehicles.

^At this point it looks like it's not a fuse. I pulled them all and checked and they all appear to be intact. The blades on a few of them looked a little brown though I'm sure that that's not the problem. I'm going to take it over to Advance to see if they can connect to the OBD and if they can't get it connected see about replacing the wiring harness and or computer.

So, I took the car back and magically it now connects. I'll consider this my lesson learned, fortunately I did not have anything done to the car so it didn't cost me anything.
