suppose to say "cant find them online at some stores"if that makes sense
10/28/2007 10:21:58 PM
call the dealer yet?
10/28/2007 10:26:50 PM
is the valve stuck open?
10/28/2007 11:04:48 PM
^ you stupid nigger they get old and crack leak around the plastic switch housingI know for a fact I got one of those from carquest a few years back.[Edited on October 29, 2007 at 6:51 AM. Reason : Think it was around $60 though]
10/29/2007 6:49:40 AM
dont really wanna call the dealer..
10/29/2007 6:52:58 AM
10/29/2007 7:34:31 AM
i was filling it up the other night, and i dont know if it was because it was dark, or a shadow, or what but it looked so damn gunky inside that brake fluid reservoir...how do those master cylinders hold up? the thing has 90K miles, which is very low, it runs like a champ.only other problem is that there is no heat. gotta spend a good day scoping this thing out.any other common probs with this thing? its my uncles side truck, but i use it a lot so i wanna get things goin for him.
10/29/2007 7:39:16 AM
Is the valve mounted on the mc or on the fenderwell? Is the heater core hooked up? Those things are notrious for going out on the S10's, and most people just bypass them.[Edited on October 29, 2007 at 7:44 AM. Reason : Check all your heater control linkages too.]
10/29/2007 7:43:48 AM
hmm, ive payed attention once to where the valve was.. i want to say its under the MC. i was trying to find pictured on the internet and i noticed some that are mounted in other places. so thats why im not 100% sure. but if i can remember correctly, its under the MC. so i see that they are called dump valves also.nice name
10/29/2007 7:49:32 AM
I need to replace my dump valve too, its been spraying out brown gunky liquid this morning
10/29/2007 7:56:17 AM
i aint kiddin, the dump valve looks grimey
10/29/2007 8:16:28 AM
you mean this fucker? they alway start seeping around the switch, only place that has that is the dealer now, carquest doesnt carry them anymore, make sure you have the vin number, exact build date, engine size, and a DNA sample before you order the part through chevy
10/29/2007 1:59:22 PM
i know you work close to sir walter but i know a guy in the dirty D at hendricks who knows his shit, call him he will hook you uphang on i will remember his name
10/29/2007 6:11:03 PM
kevin! he is the man, tell him joel sent you
10/29/2007 6:12:37 PM
i took a ton of pics of the valve. and it just might be the actual brake line. ill post them up in an hour when i get to where the camera is.
10/29/2007 7:45:25 PM
i actually think its coming from the right side brake line. the line on the bottom. looks a bit rusted out.might have to change that instead. [Edited on October 30, 2007 at 8:19 PM. Reason : ]
10/30/2007 8:18:53 PM
oh im sorry mr know it all..
10/30/2007 8:49:22 PM
10/31/2007 11:42:30 AM
so i am def replacing the line.. maybe even both brake lines.should i go through with the valve? this might be something where money will play a role.its not a daily driver. i would be happy with just replacing the line if thats all i think it needs
10/31/2007 11:44:41 AM
^^ so how do you bleed the rear brakes correctly. whats the clip for that i have that sticks between the master and holds that unit open?
10/31/2007 5:17:01 PM
10/31/2007 5:35:38 PM
Who let this slowback dude back on here? I thought he was banned or something. It appears he might have gotten dumber if that's possible?I'm really surprised these parts aren't available at parts places, are you sure? It's only like the most common compact truck ever. Plus it's domestic.
10/31/2007 10:33:11 PM
^ nope, few places used to carry them, but there are so many different ones for a small application, its mostly dealer only now
11/1/2007 8:43:49 AM
hmmm, discontinued from chevyso apex sales (carquest in apex) has lines and stuff and they can bend me a new line.ima try to get a discount through work.or just take it up there and get an estimate[Edited on November 1, 2007 at 9:56 AM. Reason : ]
11/1/2007 9:51:02 AM
you can do a line yourself, its really easy. check back with the dealer to see what other applications use the same part then hit a junkyard and find you one.
11/1/2007 11:19:13 AM
or just bypass it and learn to drive with the rear wheels locked everytime you hit the brakes
11/1/2007 11:21:11 AM
^^tr00.the guy at apex carquest said i can do it myself. the only thing rusted is the the threaded bolt that goes into the valve. if i can replace that. its good to go.he said something about a 2 way tube flaring devise.and i can do it on the car, as long as there is enough hose.im assuming i am gonna cut the hose, replace screw, and flare it.sounds pretty simple. is it?
11/1/2007 12:13:44 PM
flaring that line is gonna be a bitch, any rust makes it a pain
11/1/2007 12:23:48 PM
hmmm...i am curious on how my friend teflon tape will do for a temp. fix. if its coming from the threads
11/1/2007 12:43:13 PM
absolutely nothing, the thread dont seal, the flare does
11/1/2007 1:13:17 PM
oh yeah. durrr
