I had my camera ready to use and set it on the table... apparently the strap was hanging down and Grits felt the need to pull it off the table. It landed with the zoom out and face down! Now, the telescoping part is stuck partially extended, and I can't pull it open. What do I do?

what camera model?

Canon Powershot A520I just got it to open, but its really blurry. When it closes, you have to push it some. It makes a terrible crunching sound when closing and opening now.

so a guy is taking the test for sniper school, and one of the quizzes on the written test is as follows, Q: "You've been assigned to take out person X, as you approach the target, you make your ballistic computations, compensate accordingly, and line the reticle up on the target. Immediately before you squeeze the trigger, the cutest fluffy kitty cat you've ever seen walks in front of the target, what is the first thing you feel?"A: Recoil.[Edited on October 25, 2007 at 6:17 PM. wow, you've definitely got serious issues here.If it works fine (clear shots) with a different lens you're in decent shape - usually means you've destroyed the aperture inside the lens. Usually in the $50-100 range to fix (assuming it's not a really nice lens). If it still doesn't work with a different lens you've got SERIOUS problems. Could be anything from a broken shutter, AF motor... sky is the limit.Hope it's just a broken lens (I know that sounds bad, but it's the cheapest end to this problem.)

^ it isn't an SLR
10/25/2007 6:45:23 PM
compact camera. needs to be sent off to be fixed.... damage protection on it? if not. time to invest in a new digital camera and a cage for grits.
10/25/2007 6:53:03 PM
^ than it's the lens. Bummer.
10/25/2007 6:53:48 PM

HAHAHAHAHA, I'm such an idiot. I just looked the camera up. No SLR, No removable lens? You're TOTALLY screwed. Pack it up, send it back and/or replace at earliest convenience.
10/25/2007 6:57:14 PM
No... I've always known he has this thing about the strap on the camera. He always has. It was my fault as well because he was riled up and playful, (I was putting his new costume on him and throwing his mouse) he was just playing. I should have been more careful. He don't deserve a whippin' unless I have no fault in the matter.Yeah, the lens is not removable. Its no super nice camera, but I just love it. It takes great pictures for my purposes. When I take pictures, they're pretty blurry. Unless I manually pull it out a little more to full extent. I'm gonna go get my box and check the warranty stuff.

warranty still valid?
10/25/2007 9:47:04 PM
Well, nevermind. The box must be at Mom and Dad's house, because its not here. I'll check it tomorrow. I don't think it is online.

Crap, the warranty ran out in March. Any suggestions on who to take it to that is reasonably priced?

I had a simular thing happen to me, it was cheaper to buy a new camera than have it fixed.
