Review:http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2006/11/07/Benq_FP241W/1

I've read so many reviews of 24" monitors for gaming and the overwhelming consensus was to buy this beast. I haven't bought a monitor in 5 years and I figured it was about time and I wanted to go ahead and get an HD format.

This thing has a native res of 1920x1200 (24") so it can easily do 1080p. This is the newer firmware with the 1:1 scaling so it will not stretch a 1080 signal like the old firmware did (true 1080p).

Can not wait to get this thing in Friday.

i'd like to do computer gaming, but the hardware restrictions are so fucking ridiculous your high end system won't last more than a year at the top

and two years not even compatible anymore, it seems

I've been using my 7900GT for 1.5 years now and I am still running every single game at max settings @1280x1024. However when this beast arrives I will be dialing down some settings, but running at the native resolution.

It is true that hardware out dates rather quickly, but if you overclock you can extend the length of your card's life as long as you do it safely with good cooling.

I have been running my 7900GT @750/1700 (560/1600 stock) for 6 months now at 1.55V (1.4V stock) and with my cooling I don't see there being an issue in the card's life until I switch it for a 9 Series whenever that finally is released (Q1 2008)

dont forget

you dont have to replace ever single component in your rig every 2 years.

basically it's proc/mobo/ram/gfx every 2 years to stay in your settings range.

I replace once I'm down to med-low settings. That doesn't mean I can't play games, they just do look like sex after a while. And it's longer if you dont have any desire to play the games that are released once those 2 years has past. the games i was running at max when i built my system, are still great games and i still play them a lot.

Just DVD right now. Day after Thanksgiving I'll pick up a HD-DVD Drive (maybe the XBox 360 one). For now the only HD I will be seeing is through gaming and HD Trailers online.

^^ I have that case, it is an awesome cooler.

If you are a NCSU Student in any of the computer related classes you have access to a free copy of Vista while enrolled in the class.

They can be used as PC Monitors but they won't perform near as well in gaming and applications as the screen I bought. Plus those are only 1920x1080 displays, mine is 1920x1200, more PIXELZ!

I knew I could have got a nice size TV for around the same price, however I'll use my PC monitor a lot more and I am in a college apt; I'll get a TV after I graduate.

I will consider this one, I need a new monitor I think Christmas is the time to do it. More for photo-editing, but gaming too. Really like what I have read on Samsung models, but BenQ is great too

nope, exactly the same

the only difference is higher quality control, in other words: no dead pixels
