bus 425 DE is still open. i'm in that now and can't complain. you can watch the current lectures on channel 18 TWC tuesdays and thursdays from 8-930am and 8-930pm to get a feel for it. i am pretty sure that next semester they will use the same lectures but put them on DVD.

andy nowel said we will be guaranteed spots in 480 from the 1st of Nov. He said we might not get 425 in which case we gotta settle for 426 or acc 411. im in the same position as you, graduating in may and need 480 and 425 / 426 .

we had a midterm that we took on campus, he tells you where and when it will be way in advance, and it was at night, around 6:30. we have a group of super short easy essays due in November, and then go back on campus for the final. Pretty simple, and you can watch the lectures on your time ( i record mine in the morning and watch them around dinner time) and you can go back and watch something that you may not have understood the first time. His essays are word for word what he talks about in the lecture. There is no book to buy, just a course pack from sir speedy. i think the convenience is worth the extra $350ish extra to take it DE.

and i think its bullshit that you cant even choose the core concentration classes now? theyre trying to force us off on 426 and 425 distance ed? thats some bullshit, seriously, im furious with this college of management.

someone isnt doing their job properly, like lets see why the hell did all the counselors quit this year?

It has to do with course availability. COM has always been playing catch up when trying to have enough teachers to teach all the classes that students need. It is the very reason it is so hard to get into the college (to try to keep a lid on student demand) and its why all the classes are restricted to majors. Even with the restrictions, there are obviously still many students who want and need the classes to graduate. The college needs more teaching positions to teach a greater number of sections to meet the demand of all of its current students.

The other thing you can do, for the time being, is get on a waitlist if there is one for the course. Or, if there isn't one, watch it like a hawk in case someone drops it. Then,as always, pay attention to when schedules are dropped for non-payment. Since BUS has one of the largest majors on campus, there is a good chance that a number of students will have their schedules cancelled and you might get in then.

Be persistent, it usually works out.

i mean regardless of taking bus425 online (which is bs in the first place), all 480's are completely closed and waitlists gone. they will be fitting me into a class so i can graduate, they cant stop you

just talked to them, they said 480 will open up on Nov 1st, so sign up then. Also, they said they are pretty sure they will open up another 425 section, they will email us pretty soon about it (or so i was told). Im sure its gonna work out for us, we just gotta sit back and wait for them to clean their mess up i guess.

yeah they said they would automatically sign up graduating seniors ONLY for that bus480 if they didnt have it yet (like us)

ok, so they will DEFINITELY add another 480 section and if that conflicts with your schedule, they will work with you to move things around.

however, they WILL NOT be adding a 425 section and so they "encourage" us to take the DE section. I have made it pretty clear to them that im not going to pay the extra $350 it costs, so they are either going to have to pay for me or figure out a way to put me into an existing section.

now i guess i just sit back and wait for another day or two before I go back there and tell them all what a bunch of bullshit this is (for the 50th time) !!

It's still restricted so we can't sign up for it. Nov 1st is when they will automatically enroll people, but I don't believe it either so lets wait and see.
