there are two other outputs.. one is coaxial, and the other, which i cant think of the name, is usually above or beside it. they are pretty much always paired together.

the coaxial is audio, what is the other one called (the video one).

im having a brain fart, im not home now and wont be til 5 or so. trying to find out where i can get that cable. but gotta find out the name first.

the plug looks like the kind where you plug from printer to usb, its not exactly a square, but close to it

i actually spotted it when i was looking at some pictures of DVD players.

oh.. so its just to spice up the audio?

i bought this surround sound system. it came with a coaxial cable. so i just hooked it up because it came with it.

should i bother with the optical cable?

optical and coaxial both carry the same thing (digital audio), just different transmission mediums

they carry the 5.1 audio signal from your dvd player to your receiver/amp

you only need one or the other

Make sure you're using either the optical or the digital coaxial, and not the red/white coaxial as well.
