Anyway, our teacher says, "OK...how about you all share a story about YOUR pet!" So we go around the room telling cute/funny stories and then we get to this chick, Donna Ow, and she says, in a very thick asian accent, "When I was little girl we had a dog but he barked a lot so we ate him"

the entire class (minus her of course) looked mortified. She wasn't sure why.

ahahahaha, that reminds me of a story my Japanese professor told us one time.

When she was in middle school, her best friend had a pet fish named Goldy. Every day after school she would go over to her friend's house and they would say hello to the fish. One day, they get home and the fish is gone and the bowl emptied. They ask the friend's mom what happened to Goldy. Mom tells them she was out of fish flakes for making miso soup so she used the Goldy instead. My professor said she cried the rest of the night thinking about eating Goldy the fish for dinner.
