on tvs 500 and up. is there a catch to this or what?

The catch is that if you miss or are late on a payment they fuck you. You'll be charged retroactively for all the interest that they, up until you were late on a payment, decided not to charge you to the tune of ~25% APR.

even if you pay for it on time... you paid for installation. them fuckers charge like $300 for "installation".

i don't know what scam you're talking about...i bought my first two laptops (years ago) on this "18 months no interest" deal...you pay your minimum payment, every month on time, and then the month before (so, month 17), pay your remaining balance...it works out fine as long as you're a responsible adult with good money management skills

the best deal to get is no interest and no payments; that way you don't have the chance to be late on a payment.just make sure you pay your loan completely off 2 months before its due (just to be safe), because they "due date" they print is actually a couple of days after the trigger date that applies all the retroactive interest to your account

last january, best buy had a 0% interest for 3 years on tvs $1k and up provided you used your BB card, plus it turned out whatever else i bought that day was also considered part of the 0% interest purchase...definitely picked up a flat screen and an xbox360 and a bunch of peripherals...same as cash for 3 years

^ no problem ^^ thats was a damn good dealI will make a general suggestion for anyone who gets in on one of these interest/payment free deals...setup an automatic recurring payment in your online banking system. schedule the last payment to be sent 1-2 months before the interest kicks in as mentioned above. that way you dont have to bother with sending a check in every month or remembering to log in and pay it.]

ok, this is how you can get yourself with this deal - you make your purchase online, and by the time you get your card, and your first statement, your first bill is due like 1 month you bought it, so don't forget that you are actually already about 1 month behind on that 18 months! make it take 1 year to pay it off so you will be well within bounds and not have to worry at all, and i would not charge anything else to that card until you pay off the tv just to be sure. fyi, you get no cc rewards points for purchasing promotional items that are free of finance charges.

Call me old fashioned, but if you don't have enough cash to buy a goddamned TV then you should probably stick with the 13" sets you find in the dumpster.

^ You make money on an interest free loan.

^^^ interest free loan ALWAYS is free money because their money is your money and you can borrow back and forth as you please!
