My left hand has felt like it's been asleep for like the last 8 hours. It's mostly just the pinky and ring finger of it that feels this way. What gives? Will it have to be amputated? Am I going to die?

Numbness in your fingers is usually caused by a pinched or a damaged nerve. If it's in your pinky and ring finger, it's probably a nerve in your elbow.

I have no idea.

I have numbness in my fingers from time to time because I'm pregnant, but that's caused by prego swelling putting pressure on the nerves and it just goes away without me having to do anything.

It's probably your Ulnar nerve.



This probably isn't a big deal - unless you feel the need to seek emergency medical service then it's probably fine to just take it easy on your arm for a few days and see if it goes away.

I wouldn't do anything that is going to aggravate that nerve - ie don't go around stretching the nerve, etc, until you see a professional. You stretch the ulnar nerve main through extensions of the arm while bringing the hand back (like you were putting your hand up to someone's face). So .. I'd avoid doing stuff like that... yea.

i lost the feeling on part of my index and pointer of my left hand when i was like 14 or 15 for like a month or 2

i was fucking with a trolling motor and got my fingers caught in the thing that angles it for like a minute before someone on the boat finally realized how to get my fingers out

when i raced karts, my ring finger on my left hand used to stay in a state of asleep because of the way i gripped the steering wheel every weekend. when i stopped racing it came back in a couple weeks.
