Another car, a dark blue four-door sedan, was seen speeding from the scene at about the same time. Witnesses described the suspect as a black man with a medium complexion wearing a long, white T-shirt, baggy, dark jeans with some faded gray on them, and another white T-shirt wrapped around his head. The suspect is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, stands between 6 feet and 6 feet two inches tall, and has tattoos on much of his forearms. Investigators believe robbery was the motive in the attack. One of the victim's purses was rummaged through, McCoy said. Police are not sure how the suspect entered the building, but said he may have been allowed to enter. There was no sign of a struggle. "We do believe they were trying to assist him in any way possible," McCoy said. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the area CrimeStoppers line at 252-977-1111. Callers may remain anonymous. "

I moved to Rocky Mount after graduation last May... a lot like Durham except you don't have the academic, medical, or yankee folks that come along with Duke or being part of the Triangle.

I lived down the street from Mrs. Kornegay and played baseball with her son. I'm pretty sure her son, Bo, went to NCSU starting around 1996 so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the folks here have met him.

It all happened in the kitchen of the church. The church also runs a Montessori (sp?) school with several teachers and a lot of kids that were on the other side of the building at the time that this was all happening.

i grew up in lakeside baptist, my mom still goes on a regular basis, and the rest of us still go with her on christmas. i knew mrs. kornegay and know mrs. beasley (used to be friends w/ her daughter). i was actually at a wedding-eve dessert party 2 weeks ago (i know, wtf) where i saw and spoke w/ mrs. beasley for the first time in many years. my mom also used to deliver w/ meals on wheels out of our church.

i don't give a shit who you are or what race you are, but if you do this kind of shit you need to be strung up in the middle of town for the world to see.
