They have a sale going on -Buy 4 tires-Free shipping (ground)-$100 offI got just ordered new ice/rallycross tires for $80 shipped
10/18/2007 5:00:53 PM
Wow...Someone tell me really quickly if I should buy Falken Ziex ZE-912 or ZE-512 tires. No real price difference between the two. I had some ZE-512's and they were good.
10/18/2007 5:15:48 PM
If you've had the 512's before and liked them I would just get them again.
10/18/2007 5:29:07 PM
I googled around a little and found that the 912 is the follow-on tire. It looks like it has a stiffer sidewall which was my biggest complaint about the 512. It's also supposed to be grippier and have longer life. Sweet!Thx for looking out Dave421. I owe you a beer.
10/18/2007 5:38:01 PM
dammit, i wish i'd known about this 2 weeks ago when i spent $600-650 on a new set of a Azenis RT-615s
10/18/2007 5:59:20 PM
10/18/2007 6:39:20 PM
stick with bridgestone re50's or switch to something else?
10/18/2007 6:59:26 PM
how long does this last?and anyone can put them on for me for some change?
10/18/2007 7:00:22 PM
yeah, what's the going rate for mounting/balancing?
10/18/2007 7:01:59 PM
shouldn't be any more than ~$40-50 total at most. some places do it as cheap as $8 a wheel. slingblade has made it well known that he works at merchants. dunno if he gives a tww discount or anything though.
10/18/2007 7:04:28 PM
i usuall charge $20 a wheel for outside purchas. ill run a brent roadspecial. 10bux. and 10buc tire rotation every 6k miles
10/18/2007 7:20:06 PM
^would not trust this guy to check my air pressure, much less mount/balance my tires.
10/18/2007 7:27:55 PM
^ and it starts again...
10/18/2007 7:33:45 PM
how significant (other than speedo issues) is going down in tire size? to say, about 95% of the stock overall diameter, so a 5% smaller tire?
10/18/2007 7:33:56 PM
^^oh, it's not going to end.
10/18/2007 7:46:11 PM
Slowblack will mount the tires and do a good job. He has personally mounted my tires for years.10bux a tire isn't bad
10/18/2007 8:10:34 PM
And for all you truck people, this sale is also on truck/mud/suv/you get the point tires.
10/18/2007 8:19:53 PM
Can someone convince me as to buy theses tires or not for my 04 toyota tundra?http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?yr=2004&c=2&sw=false&cs=275&pc=44560&rd=17&vid=008523&ar=60Called the store and they said they'd even give me 100 off in store, $12 to mount and balance, plug lifetime rotation and balance, as well as flat fix.whatcha think?thanks
10/18/2007 8:41:41 PM
Should i get some Falken Azenis 615's? Or keep driving on my RE050's?
10/18/2007 9:26:53 PM
I'm ordering Azenies tomorrow. $520+45 shipping for 255/40/R17 from edgeracing.com
10/18/2007 9:32:36 PM
Before I ordered I placed a call to NTB. They said ~$46 to mount/balance or ~$60 to mount/balance with free balance/rotation for the life of the tires. Where do you work Slowback? Feel free to PM me.
10/18/2007 9:33:20 PM
I like how they have McLaren listed for cars. Like anyone with a $1mil. + car is going to buy tires from some where with the word "discount" in it haha
10/18/2007 9:33:59 PM
i was hoping the RT-615's would be cheaper here but they're $20 cheaper at edgeracing with shipping.
10/18/2007 9:37:32 PM
damn i just put new fronts on today or i would have bought an entire set for when the rears wear out. 17" tires are sooo much more than the ole e30 14" tires.
10/18/2007 9:37:43 PM
10/18/2007 11:13:50 PM
get the falkens.
10/18/2007 11:17:20 PM
10/18/2007 11:24:52 PM
I checked online and with the 100 off it was 580?
10/18/2007 11:31:40 PM
you need to go to the next screen to get the $100 off.
10/18/2007 11:32:34 PM
Thanks! I got 4 even though I dont need rears right now
10/19/2007 3:35:38 AM
if the new azenis are anything like the older ones.... then IMO its not worth getting them.
10/19/2007 8:26:18 AM
I had the Ziex 512's on my subie for about... one whole year. That's right. Only one year and they were down to 2/32nds. I tried to blame it on my AWD and aggressive driving habits. But, I decided to give them a benefit of a doubt since they were so cheap and performed fairly well. After buying them again for a second time and driving on them less aggressively for, you guessed it, one year, they were down to 2/32nds again. Also, I could hear every rock in the road. I guess it could be just AWD, so take my words with a grain of salt.Ziex 512's are good for a cheapo tire, but don't expect to have them for too long. Be prepared to play the radio louder than usual after 6,000 miles on them. Very noisy tires.I won't buy them again for the reasons above. I went with some Pirelli M+S Nero PZero's this time. More expensive, but comparable dry grip with MUCH improved comfort and tread wear.[Edited on October 19, 2007 at 9:31 AM. Reason : ziex five twelves]
10/19/2007 9:29:17 AM
^^what??? thats crazy talk. I love my Azenis. Thats what i was using on track all last year. I'm just now replacing them with the same.
10/19/2007 10:46:31 AM
^^ I honestly didn't have the Ziex-512's for very long before I sold the car. I probably put 7,000 miles on them myself, but I didn't notice any noise problems. In any case, these 912's are going on a cheap beater car and they have got to be better than rolling on the 18 year old spare tire (yes, I've seriously been running the factory spare from 1989 for the last year...It was on there when I bought the car.) I have nicer tires on my Honda.
10/19/2007 10:58:58 AM
I need some 275/55/20's for the winter, anybody got any reccomendations? Might as well get them on sale...
10/19/2007 11:44:52 AM
Upgrade to Dub Deuces?
10/19/2007 11:53:48 AM
^ these were factory, if anything i would go down to 18's
10/19/2007 11:55:49 AM
Thanks for the tip, I just saved myself about $140 on tires I needed but was putting off buying. -- Dave

10/19/2007 12:40:30 PM
it's gonna hurt when I have to get a set of new tires and $100 off isn't even going to matter that much
10/19/2007 12:45:45 PM

10/19/2007 2:20:26 PM

10/19/2007 2:57:22 PM
questionwill 225/70s fit on a 15x7 wheel?i have 235/75s now, but the 225/70s were cheaper.
10/19/2007 3:46:01 PM
yes not a problem
10/19/2007 4:16:52 PM
figured as much...i had a friend I know try to mount them at his shop and he said they couldn't get them to fit...
10/19/2007 5:46:09 PM
so what was the end conclusion onZiex ZE-512Ziex ZE-912Azenis ST115also how many people kept the replacement certificates and valve stems? is it just a ploy?Ziex ZE-912 are 252 OTD, which i can totally do right now. 4x Pilot Sport A/S started to get me worried. Also, what's the skinny on matching tires with AWD. Do the tread patterns have to match as well?[Edited on October 19, 2007 at 6:13 PM. Reason : .]
10/19/2007 6:07:17 PM
^^i had the same problem getting JUst Tires to mount my 255/40/17's I had to take it to a different place with the proper equipment
10/19/2007 7:20:09 PM
ordered some 225/45-17 RT-615s and some 245/40-18 SPTs. Damn good deal for both.
10/19/2007 7:30:46 PM
I have some Yokohama H4s right now and I like them, but I was looking at the Falken Ziex 912. Both seem very comparable with the falken's being a bit cheaper. The reviews I've read say that both tires are great performers, but I'm concerned more to highway noise. The H4s are quiet on my Acura TL. Would the 912's be quiet as well?[Edited on October 19, 2007 at 11:58 PM. Reason : ]
