I have Auto CAD on my personal computer but my brother does not and he lives in Raleigh. He is in Mech. Eng. at state and we were trying to work on something together but needed CAD to do it. I know you can download lots of software from somewhere on our site but didn't know if there was a free educational version a student could download for something like this via NCSU.

tell him to take it to ITECs building and they will install it (i think, i know they do for solidworks) and then he just has to login to use it.ORHe could just make a vcl.ncsu.edu reservation and use autocad from there.

No. The site license that the University holds for Autodesk products explicitly prohibits installing it on student-owned and personally-owned machines. He'll have to either use vcl.ncsu.edu, or buy an academic version on his own. There are no other ways to get it from the university, period.

^ From what I've seen on their site in the past, they make AutoCAD derivatives available, but not the standard AutoCAD program.
