I had four wisdom teeth removed and was shot in the kneecaps later that day. Didn't even have to be numbed or medicated. Get over it.
10/18/2007 2:02:32 PM
I had a wisdom tooth pulled, it was impacted so I was in oral surgery for more 3 hours. My dentist didn't prescribe me ANY painkillers (my dentist is my uncle)
10/18/2007 2:02:53 PM
I got 4 out at the same time. they cut into my gum and everything.didn't get any pain killers]
10/18/2007 2:03:44 PM
At least someone didn't charge into your homeland and gun you down, then take pictures holding up your dead body as if they had accomplished something great. That would have really sucked.
10/18/2007 2:04:06 PM
had no problems with mine, i was eating chili that afternoon
10/18/2007 2:04:19 PM
Its only the bottom one that hurts, and its because it was growing sideways into my molars. I don't even want to know how he got that bitch out. At first he told me that he was going to have to break it and pull it in 2 pieces, but he gave me my teef and they are whole.
10/18/2007 2:05:06 PM
I never got any wisdom teeth at all.Does that mean I'm a dumbass?
10/18/2007 2:05:58 PM
The vicodin has made me sleepy suddenly, and everything is quieter... BUT MY FUCKING JAW HURTS STILL!!!!!!!!!!!! VICODIN, WORK WHERE YOU ARE PRESCRIBED TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not bitching, I'm just in pain. My dogs are taking good care of me. Grits took care of me on the way home. He drove me and took me to Wendys for a frosty. I would have been fine if I had gotten my meds before the numbness went away... maybe. Everyone is different. I've definitely heard worse cases, and I have heard awesome cases. I think the bottom one hurts so bad b/c of the position. The first thing I said when I woke up was, "Can I have me teeth? Are you done?"[Edited on October 18, 2007 at 2:19 PM. Reason : ]

I had all 4 wisdom teeth out about a month ago. It wasn't much fun, but they said staying awake for it increases the healing time as compared to being put under for it. (watching them use a saw in your mouth to crack up teeth that are logged in there, and then suction it out, all the while you're swallowing alot of blood was definitely an experience). It took basically the full day for the bleeding to stop. I was off the pain meds, anti inflammatory meds, and antibiotics after 2 days even though I had a weeks course of each, b/c the meds were seriously tearing me up and they couldn’t say for sure which it was, so had I had no prescription strength stuff, and was advised to do very little over the counter pain meds either. The med reaction ended up being a lot worse than the mouth pain.Basically the time table for me was 1 day of bleeding a lot, followed by a couple of days of continued mouth pain, and after that it wasn’t so bad. Since I couldn’t take any pain meds after that certain point, I found out just how much ice packs can help, and strongly recommend them.Having to flush out your wisdom teeth holes with that syringe thing to get the food out after every meal wasn't much fun.I also found that having Ensures or Boosts, or any liquid meal replacement drink came in really handy for keeping a balanced intake of vitamins, minerals, & calories without having to flush afterwords.[Edited on October 18, 2007 at 2:24 PM. when i got my wisdom teeth taken out i must have been one of the lucky ones...it didnt bleed hardly at all and i ate pizza the same day
10/18/2007 2:25:03 PM
The dentist told me the ideal time when you heal the fastest is in the 18 to 22 range. So getting mine out this year, I was only 1 year "past due" But it wasn't until after college and having a full time job with insurance that I could afford it.^how many did you have out at once?[Edited on October 18, 2007 at 2:28 PM. ambrosia1231 Wow... you two sure are an odd couple! He has extra and you are missing molars ANd wisdom teef. That's pretty neat though.Supplanter So, your anitinflammatory meds... did you just take ibuprofen or something? I didn't need antibiotics apparently, b/c they didn't prescribe them. I would like something to help with swelling. I'm about to go get an ice pack out of the freezer though.haha, I just remembered somehting else: When I woke up, Lucky1 came in the room. I opened my eyes and said "HEY GOOD LOOKIN'!!".
10/18/2007 2:30:35 PM
^^all 4...one had came out, the other 3 were still under the gums
10/18/2007 2:32:03 PM
Well, I am 21, so I hope this is over soon! I am pretty fortunate in the insurance department. I don't have medical/prescription coverage of any kind; can't afford it, and the kind through my mom's work is outrageous for her to add on.However, she added me and my daddy on her dental. I got the x-rays and consultation with 100% coverage, and the oral surgery was covered 80/20. My part of the bill was only $156.
10/18/2007 2:33:28 PM
Great... I just got off the phone with them and I am bleeding steadily from my sockets right now. So, I folded some gauze and put it in my sockets and am biting down for 20 mins. This hurtsssss.

10/18/2007 3:15:57 PM
So what happens if you don't get your wisdom teeth taken out?
10/18/2007 4:27:12 PM
BAD THINGS says the dentist who told my 50 year old mother she needed them taken out..she said no. that was 20 years ago, she hasn't had a single problem with them yet. mine are coming in straight and have room, dentist says they should come out..i dont think so.
10/18/2007 4:30:27 PM
gettin mine out tomorrow.....not looking forward to it.^depends on how they come in....2 of mine are fine, other two are sideways, and really need to come out.[Edited on October 18, 2007 at 4:32 PM. Reason : .]
10/18/2007 4:30:57 PM
I'll only get mine taken out if they start causing me a ton of pain. So far so good.Knock on wood!!
10/18/2007 4:31:52 PM
supposedly if you don't get them out and they are growing in crooked, they will push the rest of your teeth out of line, cause you pain in your mouth, cause headaches, etc....
10/18/2007 4:31:56 PM
also, bad breath and infection and some other crap. did anybody else have to watch a video before getting theirs out?
10/18/2007 4:33:14 PM
HERE COME BILLYBADASSI GOT MINE OUT WITH NO PAIN KILLERSIT TOOK A JACKHAMMER AND 7 HOURSI WAS OUT DRINKIN' BEERS AND DOIN BLOW OFF A TRANNY'S ASS HOURS AFTERWARDSMAN UP YOU WEINER
10/18/2007 4:33:17 PM
they can also fuck your jaw alignment up.....one of mine was hurting pretty bad a few weeks ago, so I decided to get it ripped out so as to avoid future pain.
10/18/2007 4:33:47 PM
They seriously can't be that bad.Man has lived for tens of thousands of years without getting their wisdom teeth removed.I think it's a big scheme for dentists to make more money.

People have been living well into their 60's, or even 70's and 80's if they were wealthy nobility, for at least a few thousand years.
