i told them i couldn't afford 50 bucks and they knocked half of it off
10/16/2007 4:21:18 PM
i told them both pay lots were full (as in, the arm won't go up to let you in) and i had a test to take. there was nowhere else to legally park, and they still denied it.

I did, but it was because I forgot to put up my paper permit (they'd run out of stickers my freshman year), so it's probably not the same situation. They took 3 tickets down to $5.

I havebecause they gave me warning ticket (of $0) on my car, then sent me a $30 ticket in the mailthey threw away the $30 ticket 'cause the person ticketing fucked up

only time i've gotten away with it, my car radiator hose busted so i had to find a place to park immediately so i parked in the dan allen garage first level. I left a note and had a warning ticket waiting the next day.

the machine in the dan allen deck was broken one day (well, someone's card was stuck in it), so there was no way to pay- i went to class and when i came back, i was ticketed (as well as half the lot)- I tried to petition that bullshit, but of course NCSU transportation had their heads up their asses and said it wasn't their faultWELL WHOSE FAULT WAS IT THEN, HUH?

they'll usually throw away your first if you actually have a good explanation. some of the excuses you guys have posted here have been pretty pathetic
10/16/2007 4:40:21 PM
my plan of action has always been to wait long enough for them to mail them to my dad and them have him pay them
10/16/2007 4:46:57 PM
they'll prevent you from graduating if you don't pay them

Succesfully got one cleared last month. My girlfriend parked in front of Thompson theater (which apparently is no parking) and got a ticket (along with about 10 other cars). Problem was, DE sign was still up and the white parking slots weren't erased from the ground yet.I called up Transportation and they said submit a petition online. We did that and also mailed them pictures of the DE sign and white parking slots.A few days later they dropped the ticket, scrubbed off the white paint lines from the pavement and put up a few no parking signs with little orange flags on top

funny how the car that was behind me when i found the ticket... didn't have one.neither did the others who parked there on a regular basis.i should also mention that not long after i petitioned the ticket with my reasons, they put up a sign there, and didn't say one dang thing to me.[Edited on October 16, 2007 at 7:20 PM. I got a parking ticket in the mail a few semesters ago before the start of Fall Break...something about parking in an area without a proper permit...thing is the day the ticket was dated, i wasn't on campus, i was at work and could prove that i was no where near campus...and i always park in the commuter lotI called up to the parking department...nobody wanted to hear my story, kept saying "you have to pay for the ticket because you parked in a permitted spot blah blah blah"I ended up having to go down to the transportation office, have them look up my permit number for them to realize that I truly did not park in a restricted spot.I still don't know how I got the ticket. I guess the ticketing officer wrote down my permit number which was only a few numbers off from the true culprit.somebody got out of a $50 ticket cause of me [Edited on October 16, 2007 at 8:34 PM. I did, over a migraine. This was back when I lived in Lee (about a year and a half ago). I was coming in from work and had a major headache slowly developing into a migraine (I had to squint when cars were coming towards me because the light hurt me). I had a fraternity ct parking pass but knew I couldn't handle the walk back. I parked in the lee lot which was normally fine because it was a saturday night. Apparantely I parked in a no parking section because they were going to do construction and had it blocked off... I didn't see the signs because I couldn't focus on them and parked anyway. They ticketed me, I petitioned, they let me off.

I dont understand the machine at the dan allen deck. I pay it and it gives me a little receipt. How does transportation know if I pay or not? Someone please explain that system.
10/16/2007 9:21:06 PM
they've always reduced mine but not dropped them

b/c you take the ticket and use it to get out?or maybe they are psychic.
10/16/2007 9:24:57 PM
i wrote an email saying the lot wasn't clearly marked and they cut it in half, i think that's the best you can usually do if you dont have any previous tickets
