It's about time I added subs, I think I'm slowly destroying my existing speakers turning them up too loud and not getting what I want out of 'em.I have a pioneer headunit (DEH-P9800BT) and component 6.5" speakers in the front. I want to fill out the bass in the car, but not make it overpowering. I have friends who have big ported sets of 12" subs that don't really flow into the rest of the music very well and I'm more concerned with sound quality than feeling how far I can flex my eardrums before they tear. That said, I don't want to end up disappointed when I turn up the volume and the subs can't handle it.I listen to mostly rock when I'm driving, heavy metal and the occasional rap or electronic. So from what I've been told, a sealed dual 12" box should do the trick.Thoughts on what I should pick up? Sub size/brand, amp type/size/brand/configuration? This is all going in the back of a 96 tahoe 2-door.

do you have a speaker amp?

A nice 10" in a sealed enclosure with a solid amp is all you need. Anything else is just overkill.

yea, for something open like an suv, you dont need big at all

Yeah, I've had several friends have theirs stolen, but I'll take the risk.

i did a 10w7 in my tahoe for a while and it was money. i got rid of it because it was too much after a while. i would look into 1 12w3 or similar.

^^x2 you shouldn't be running components off u power. if they are a decent set you'd be surprised at how much better they sound with real power and some dynamat on their mounting surface. i'd get a 4 chanel and map all the speaekrs if u're sill not happpy u can bridge the rears to a sub .
