Would it be possible to hotwire a XM satellite radio (5v) so that the power could be turned on and off by the ceiling light switch? If so what would be necessary?

Lighten up on ma nikka, Keith. I'd trust him to do a clean install almost as much as I'd trust you.

maybe the cigeratte lighter on his car stays hot all the time and he thinks an xm reciever will kill his battery overnight. which it wont.

Has anyone even bothered to mention the problem of a car's 12v power system, and he wants a 5 volt line?

^^I've done it with 5 bucks in radio shack parts, some aluminum fins, and a mini 1" fan. It's worked for 4 months now no problem, tucked under the steering column, above the brake pedal for some circulation. I will say without the fins and fan the first IC melted in a few minutes when I tested it.

My receiver pulls a constant .5 amps iirc.
