^^ Focus on the shadow, then once you clearly see them moving counter-clockwise move your eyes up to the main picture again.

If you look at the right edge of the monitor so the gif is in your peripheral vision, it looks counter clockwise.If you look at the left edge of your monitor so its in your perip it looks clockwise.I first saw it counterclockwise initially, but now I mostly see it as clockwise.
