what would you use it for? what benefit would you have using that over a pocketpc type device?if you can answer those definitively i think you'll like the purchase

^just for fucking around on basically...i have a blackberry so i dont really need this for email or anything...i'm just a sucker for gadgets^^yeah i'd imagine repairs would be a bitch...cant exactly just pop the case off and slide in a new NIC or processor chip]

any idea why some of the sites like cnet give them like 4.5 stars out of 5 based on 25 or so reviews?are they overall unreliable, or just slow sometimes or what? are yall using the same model as the link i originally posted? if you pretty much just use the factory software do they run slow or is it more when you install other apps or plugins?[Edited on October 12, 2007 at 2:03 AM. I haven't had any problems with mine.. and I'm not just saying that to get it sold. Sony does pile a bunch of software on there and it helped mine a lot to take a lot of it off but I've never had any problems running solidworks on it for smaller drawings. I pretty much used it as a desktop at home. The dock was nice, I always left a monitor/keyboard/mouse plugged in. The screen is a bit small and def not something I'd want to use constantly all day everyday but overall I've liked it...

wow this thing is awesome

I thought the whole µPC fad died a while ago.
10/16/2007 4:10:44 PM
its just an okay deviceits slower than a laptop, way less battery life, not nearly as powerful.its too big to be as convienent as a PDA/SmartPhone, its a bitch to carry around all day, and it's expensive as hell for what you get.its not that it or any of the uPC's are BAD, they just arent really GOOD at anything.

i still use my blackberry for quick email access, but the upc is pretty damn nice since i often have to go to different jobsites and tap into certain routers or switches to configure hardware, etc...very nice for that

i like ultraportables but gimme 10.5+ '' screen. other than that, windows mobile/iphone (depending on what you use it for) FTW
10/17/2007 2:20:42 AM
i mean its not big enough to type as efficiently as a full keyboard battery life sucks the screen is small and it certainly can't handle games etc. so its a compromise of everything that makes it good at nothing.
10/17/2007 11:14:42 AM
who the fuck plays games on a PC anyway
10/17/2007 11:51:36 AM
i don't i'm just saying if that were on your list mark it offthe only thing it would be good for is the weband there are so many other hand held devices that would be better for that still.I mean i'm certainly not writing any kind of report or anything on that pos. nor am i going to try an veiw any excel spreadsheets. if you can type e-mails on a cramped keyboard get a blackberry.basically... its 1k worth of useless.

to you maybe, I used to use mine constantly and it really worked well for what I used it for. I don't travel constantly anymore so I've went back to a desktop at work and regular sized laptop at home but it was well worth the price when I was always on the go.

if i were looking for a portable and still useful laptop i would get a vaio sz.
