I am hoping it will be Joe Girardi.....I don't think Mattingly is ready !!
10/9/2007 3:06:45 PM
Billy Martin
10/9/2007 3:07:24 PM
LOL
10/9/2007 3:08:22 PM
I think it will be Joe TorreWAIT A MINUTE, HE'S NOT NEW![Edited on October 9, 2007 at 3:09 PM. Reason : but seriously, it'll be him]
10/9/2007 3:08:26 PM
I heard Larussa was interested..
10/9/2007 3:10:33 PM
I was thinking Joe Girardi too, but Mattingly and Showalter were talked about on ESPN today. I guess this thread is a little premature since Torre has yet to be fired.Willie Randolph for the win
10/9/2007 3:10:51 PM
Willie would do a great job in the AL. It's not like it's real baseball they play over there. He can pick his ass, go rub a few out in the middle innings and then make the only real decision of the game in the 8th inning and put Mariano Rivera in to pitch. Oh and before the game he has to figure out what bloated contract he has to sit on the bench. Giambi or Damon.I mean Torre pretty much slept in the dugout the entire 12 years as manager..[Edited on October 9, 2007 at 3:13 PM. Reason : x]
10/9/2007 3:12:21 PM
it'll be mattinglybut it would be awesome if steinbrenner brought martin back from the grave just to fire him again
10/9/2007 3:13:50 PM
They Gave Me a Lifetime Contract and Then They Declared Me Dead
10/9/2007 3:15:38 PM
^^^ Ha haThey should just hire John Turturro and pretend he is Billy Martin. Half of the Yankee fans wouldn't notice anyway because they are too busy booing A-Rod for not hitting three homeruns each game and pretending Derek Jeter is a great defensive SS.
10/9/2007 3:25:01 PM
Tim Tebow
10/9/2007 3:30:06 PM
Tim Tebow's sister. We know A-Rod loves big boobs.
10/9/2007 3:31:28 PM
who cares
10/9/2007 3:32:14 PM
I'm gonna go w/ mattingly...buy you never know whats gonna happen. We'll see, thanks for some good years torre.

The sentimental choice would be Mattingly, but I think Steinbrenner is not in the sentimental mood. Probably LaRussa. For pure entertainment value, I'd hope it would be Ozzie Guillen. (I know it won't.) Can you imagine him surrounded by the New York media? [Edited on October 9, 2007 at 8:04 PM. Reason : .]

did the yanks end up losing that series?last i saw it was 2 games to 1
10/9/2007 9:31:03 PM
As a Cardinals fan, I truly think that La Russa is done in STL. Donnie Ballgame seems the logical choice. Can I add that if we hire Joe Torre back to STL, I might kill myself. He was terrible without any all-star team.

Please not Larussa....
10/10/2007 11:21:24 AM
I fucking hate Tony LaRussa. If he does get hired by the Steinbrenner, it'll just be one more reason to hate the Yankees.
10/10/2007 11:52:27 AM
Girardi or Mattingly...no question
10/10/2007 8:13:26 PM

I am thinking of a way to steer this thread towards Tennessee since thats all I do around here...
10/10/2007 8:34:22 PM
It'll be Torre
10/11/2007 1:27:39 PM
by the way, do not do an unfiltered image search for "Little big league"

I am still hoping for Girardi....but no complaints with Don M. either.
10/18/2007 5:13:03 PM
Thanks Joe. Not much else you can say. Thanks for 12 great years. The man made the right decision for him. A one-year deal basically would have meant going through this again at the end of next season. Joe's the man. Either Girardi or Donnie Baseball now. I'll be happy with either, really. If it's Girardi, does Donnie stay on as bench coach? I hope so. But, we'll see.
10/18/2007 5:51:27 PM
Does it really fucking matter? Until they get rid of Cashman, they could have Jesus Christ as a manager and still not get a WS.
10/18/2007 6:03:20 PM
^ I don't know, the Yankees actually have a functioning minor-league system now, which means they don't always have to go out and buy talent.Torre turning down a one-year deal reminds me of Schottenheimer rejecting the one-year extension with the Chargers.Good to Torre.[Edited on October 18, 2007 at 7:31 PM. ^^^ I don't know about that. Cashman only recently has been allowed to run things his way in terms of developing the farm system and not overpaying for free agents. The big spending has generally been Boss-sanctioned or even Boss-mandated. Credit Cashman for the development of Chamberlein, Hughes, Kennedy, Cabrera and Cano, or more accurately, their status as still being Yankees. Previously, any combination of those five would probably have been traded for Carlos Delgado or Frank Thomas or something ridiculous like that.I'd like to see how Cashman runs things the next couple of seasons provided he's still given the freedom to do things the way he's done them the past year, year and a half or so.
10/18/2007 10:32:29 PM
Michael Vick
10/19/2007 8:19:52 PM
The answer is...Joe Girardi.
10/29/2007 11:05:29 AM
If you look at the opening post...I am happy and think he will do a good job....we needed a change.
10/29/2007 1:28:01 PM
At least he won't have to put up with May-Rod ....It will be interesting how the veterans react to Joe G. ?
