Greetings chit chatters. I have a problem you might be able to help me with. I noticed today that I have a hard lump under the skin on my chin. At first I thought I was getting one of those under-the-skin pimples, but the I realized that it is a lot larger than anything I have had on my face before. It is about 3/4 of an inch diameter, hard, and a little painful. What could this be?

probably just a bigger version of your previously experienced under the skin zits.

wait for a week or so and if your condition does not clear up, try gouging whatever it is out with an exacto knife. Be sure to use some rubbing alcohol.

"About ten years ago I had this small black bump on my neck. I'd squeeze it from time to time and pus would come out. Stunk like bad breath. Sooo foul. So I'd put aftershave on it. Sure. Why not, right?

It seemed to get bigger and pussier as the months progressed. I had no idea what the hell was going on. Then, one day, I squeezed it and a bit of black hair came out. And I was like, wtf mate? So I pulled it. And it kept coming, and coming and coming and coming out of my neck until I had the curliest, kinkiest NASTIEST looking foot-and-a-half long in-grown hair coming out the side of my neck.

I fought barfing long enough to yank it out. Oh. And it smelled really bad and left a scar"

^^^ use pliers (try getting someone else to do it). if that fails (and only if that fails) go see a doctor.

It doesn't itch or burn. I'd try to pop it but there is nothing to pop. It is deep under the skin and hard, not squishy.

cyst probably, go to the doc.

I was going to say staph infection/boil, but it doesn't sound like that.

haha i remember when my mature hairs came in on my arms and legs. It was endless fun picking those little ingrown hairs out, just beneath the surface.

a doc could fix it up very easily with much less scaring than you gouging it out with an exacto knife

sebaceous cyst. I get them around my ears and down my neck. Lots of doctors wont take them out on your face, they make you go to a plastic surgeon. Dry heat always helped me (wrap a hot washcloth in plastic wrap) and I put this black tar drawing salve (really gross, but it helps so much) on them.

i had a similar lump between my neck and shoulder

the dermatologist i went to botched the removal so i had to see a plastic surgeon instead (which is what i'd recommend after seeing a dermatologist after confirming what it is)

when it was removed it looked like a popped piece of popcorn

i have a tiny scar which is fine but i believe if i had gone to a plastic surgeon first i'd have even less of a scar, if one at all

Infected node?

Have you been to the dentist lately?

You have no idea the money I would pay to witness such a thing. I've had day dreams about such things. I mean seriously...when I say that story is things dreams are made of, I'm not kidding.

Stella...I don't know what it is, but, and again, I'm 100% serious...I'd love pics.

I had a cyst like this once.

Doc just stabbed it with a needle, drained it, sent the sample off to pathology, and then drained the rest. Then I got some antibiotics, a bandage, and was instructed to wash that area carefully and just put a small bandage over where he jabbed it. Went away like magic.

Hurt like shit too. Just see a dermatologist. It is very much worth it to keep your face in order and nice and neat, and not to just gouge bits of it out with a knife to drain that stuff.

I just had something similiar removed from the back of my leg last week. Came back as dermatofibroma, so just a weird collagen growth. I have another one on my back, but the doc said only take it if it bugs me.

very stupid

go see someone that knows what they would be looking at, dermatologist, then someone to remove it if it should be removed.

There's something very satisfying about watching those pustules being completely evacuated.
