eh I don't care anymore, he had surgery and will up and performing on the 8th, so it's all good

well, they dont exactly go away. unless they have to be removed, and that is pretty rare.they have to be anticoagulated on heparin or coumadin or something to that nature.once you have a PE you've got it... the focus is on preventing the next one from ever happening.taking it easy for a few days is a good idea.....you know, so another clot doesnt break loose somewhere and cause another PE.

they could try thrombolytic therapy (if was indeed a blood clot), but that would probably only really be effective in the first few hours after it happening. the most important thing, as brainysmurf said, is to prevent this from happening again. most likely it was from a DVT, so he needs to be on anticoag therapy and perhaps have a doppler study of his lower extremities to evaluate further risk.

hey, the person who hanged themselves, was this in roanoke rapids by chance?

^dude, we are finding fairly active people coming into the hospital from home with DVTs.airplane rides and long road trips ftl everyone should be on lovenox :-PWill say one thing for PEs, they can lead to some BAD codes.one poor guy was blue from his nipple line to the top of his head... there was no way we were gonna get him back.
