10/5/2007 12:55:07 PM
something about a metal chair is a turn off.
10/5/2007 12:58:03 PM
Only the armrests and base are aluminum. The seat is fabric. I've had two of them for years and they are by far the best sitting and best quality office chairs I've ever used. I would like to try an Aeron though.
10/5/2007 1:01:17 PM
oooo.
10/5/2007 1:03:45 PM
is that what you're talking about?I like my leather chairs]
10/5/2007 1:04:06 PM
^^ got that at work really comfortable (the mesh stuff is great)
10/5/2007 1:09:34 PM
^^ Close. Those are some very worn aluminum group lounge chairs.
10/5/2007 1:27:50 PM
those HMs are illegal. you cant legally sell 4 legged chairs anymore. They do still go for around $300 on ebay though. If you want an Aeron, I can hook you up.I myself use a Steelcase Leap chair, but I must say I dont like it.
10/5/2007 1:32:42 PM
All the HMs after 1987 or so have a five star base. You can see it in the pic I posted. I think that one was an 89. You can still sell them used I believe. They just can't manufacture them anymore. How much for a base Aeron?[Edited on October 5, 2007 at 1:35 PM. Reason : l]
10/5/2007 1:34:42 PM
just started using one of these the other day (mines black tho)....verrrrry nice.
10/5/2007 1:36:05 PM
i had one just like it when i first came to college, i loved that chair
10/5/2007 1:36:08 PM
how much are you looking for?
10/5/2007 1:39:59 PM
why can't you sell 4 legged chairs anymore?
10/5/2007 1:42:59 PM
aeron base is like $800
10/5/2007 1:44:30 PM
4 vs 5thinks for 2 seconds
10/5/2007 1:44:46 PM
they tip too easily.New or Used on the Aeron?
10/5/2007 1:44:51 PM
no 4 legged center pivot chairs.... probably due to accidents and suitsskacks, but both?[Edited on October 5, 2007 at 1:46 PM. Reason : both]
10/5/2007 1:45:01 PM
then why does state have those rocking computer chairs still? Man I fell out of those all the time.
10/5/2007 1:45:59 PM
because they knew you were going to sit in them
10/5/2007 1:47:35 PM
attn: evan,I got that same chair a few months ago and love it.Correction, I got the previous model of that chair I believe, the only difference is the arms connect back around and the lower section of the back cushion are slightly different.[Edited on October 5, 2007 at 1:57 PM. Reason : correction]
10/5/2007 1:53:37 PM
$700 for new, $400 for used. PM me if you want one.
10/5/2007 1:58:25 PM
I might take you up on a used one sometime blas. I don't think I've seen one for less than $450 in the past, so it's definitely a good deal if they're in good shape. Do you normally have access to most sizes? I think I need a B or C if I remember correctly.
10/5/2007 2:05:22 PM
Bs i see pretty regularly, and in good shape.
10/5/2007 2:06:22 PM
$929 retailit is as comfortable as i have ever been in a chair.
10/5/2007 2:29:27 PM
I've had one of the mesh Aerons for almost 5 years now at work, and my $50 fake leather Viking brand chair I got comes nearly as close in comfort. Seriously. I don't know if it is the desk setup nullifying the benefits of the Aeron, but it isn't like its a "dream" to sit in or anything.]
10/5/2007 2:33:11 PM
i ♥ aeron chairs
10/5/2007 2:33:21 PM
Not too hijack the thread too much, but I'm always buying mid-century modern furniture. Let me know if you have any knoll, herman miller, etc. for sale or if you know anyone who needs anything.
10/5/2007 2:36:18 PM
^ hijacker!
10/5/2007 2:36:51 PM
Well mine is a Herman Miller, but i don't think it is what you are looking for.Regardless, I'm not selling it.
10/5/2007 2:43:17 PM
10/5/2007 3:40:18 PM
^ I'll snap some pics and shoot you some info.
10/5/2007 3:43:11 PM
Skack, what makes you so down with HM? And Im curious why you aren't calling them Eames chairs.
10/5/2007 3:55:03 PM
omg evan we have the same chair!be careful tough, the pin on the bottom (left side) comes loose a lot. If it is loose and you don't know it, you'll lean back really far and everyone who sees you will laugh.
10/5/2007 3:59:31 PM
I got into Herman Miller stuff the first time I sat in an Eames Lounge like this one:I don't really know the history behind the Herman Miller/Charles Eames relationship. If I had to guess I'd say that Eames was the designer and HM was the company that built a lot of his stuff? In any case, I've always been very impressed by all the Herman Miller stuff I've owned from credenzas to desks to chairs. It is top quality stuff and always very comfortable. It's like they took a mold of my ass/back and made furniture to fit.I just like the looks of modern era furniture as well. It's very simple with clean lines and a good mix of natural/industrial elements. Good stuff. I actually have more Knoll stuff in the living space of my house right now though. It's more functional for my uses.[Edited on October 5, 2007 at 4:11 PM. Reason : l]
10/5/2007 4:07:03 PM
