I interned at Harris Plant all summer and I'm still working there part time

I really like being at the plant especially since the outage is going on right now

Working at a plant is great but a little more stressful and uptight compared to the enviroment in the downtown Raleigh office

Don't kid yourself, I have worked at both Brunswick and downtown. Neither of which are super enjoyable, but the environment downtown was much more uptight than at the plant.

^^^ i worked my ass off and made a fair amount of money in the process. made about 50% more the second time around. the first time i didn't have as much work to do, so i spent more time interacting with engineers and learning more about how the place was run. the second time i had a real task to complete and only 12 weeks to do it. worked 12 hours/day at some points to meet self-imposed checkpoints. didn't interact with anybody except on the days when i had time to go out for lunch.

that said, i enjoyed the second internship more. i prefer knowing exactly what i need to do and being left alone to do it, rather than constantly having to seek direction and so forth. but YMMV.

Sign of a great engineer, no human interaction.

I've interned for them the last two summers:
2006 Transmission Maintenance based out of US1N (northern Raleigh)
2007 Distribution Asset Engineering based out of West Raleigh Ops

They're a great employer and have given me very worthwhile projects each summer. I'm planning to go back this year as well. Hope to see you there!
