the smell of firewood alone doesn't make me nostalgic, but the smell of firewood in the air, plus cool temperatures immediately takes me back to the month I spent in Africa with my grandparents.

I'd have a shitton of blankets on the bed, wake up, look out the window to see what time it was and what was going on (between clinics, animal feeding, and who was going in and out of the courtyard gate, I could figure out who I should go see first: my parents, Ba Weston (house help), my gramma, Ba Aphet (the gardener), or my grandfather). I could also see whether or not the commode was occupied

And I'll always go from that train of thought to my grandfather telling my gramma that there was frost in the outer fields, and then I immediately think of riding this ricketyass honda motorcycle in the strawberry fields.

Fall in NC makes me think a LOT about that month.

just reading everyone's responses has made me reminisce about a lot of things.

cold weather and burning firewood takes me back to some great nights camping with my 4 best friends. Even though I camp a lot, just thinking about that one weekend on the lake without another soul in sight is what first pops up in my head.

There are certain perfumes that bring about the memory of several women in my life. Sarah Jessica Parker's lovely, cool water for women, even sunflowers from so long ago.

the smell of pachoulli incense takes me back to some great nights with my stoner buddies from high school.

I wish you could have a scratch and sniff scrapbook.
