With a 1998 vw jetta.

2.0L engine, automatic transmission, and a moon roof.

Holy crap it's a different world from my Jeep cherokee.

I think I'm going to have to get one of these and get rid of my jeep... I never use the utility part of the jeep anyway.

that's an odd thing to fall in love with... have you never driven a car or something?

Ahahah...

No, the car is just faster, handles better, has cooler features than, and gets MUCH better gas mileage than my Jeep Cherokee.

I also wanted one of these for my first car in high school thanks to VW's advertising/marketing. Now that I'm driving it, it's just cool. I never have driven a car this small.

I doubt it's really any faster, and of course it will handle better and get better fuel mileage. If you are going to get a vw, at least make it a 1.8t with a manual.

Well, it's faster in terms of normal acceleration. Now, in my jeep, if I stomp it the thing will fly and beat the jetta, but I never accelerate hard in my car. It costs too much.

Light cars are just neato. Now I'm going to have to go get one and get rid of my boring steel box.

I do love my ragged as hell Trooper as well. But I like it because of the utility part and I just want to see how much abuse and neglect it can withstand. But I would miss it if it were gone.

Almost any car is better than a Jeep.

Nope, just after filling my car up with gas and realizing the piece of shit got about 12.4 mpg in mixed short trips & longer city trips & highway driving (all fairly even in terms of % of miles on the tank), I am really starting to look for something that doesn't suck as much gas in city driving.

First small car I've ever driven, really.

Anything's better than a chrysler. But don't buy a decade old VW. You'll regret it.

Yeah, I'm gonna defend most of the Jeep guys on here and say they use them.

I didn't choose to get this car and I didn't pay for it. It's a 4x2 so I wouldn't take it off-road anyway. The most use off-road it got was this summer at a construction site, and even then I could've driven a Taurus on that road.

I've only taken mine off road a couple times, but utility wise, I use the cargo space every week. The fiddy fits perfectly and I have used it to tow before as well.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard "fast" and "VW 2.0" in the same conversation.

Had the same experience with my GFs focus after driving a Wrangler, Explorer, then Land Rover my entire life.

It is a gay looking little car, but its nice to be able to take curves at a moderate speed without feeling like you are going to roll over.

The solution was drive the Focus to-from work, drive the land rover around when not working. The gas savings have been phenomenal.

the quick handling car novelty is nice. I keep thinking i would want a "car" after driving my lifted box lady since i was 16. But having the space and sitting up high are two things i can say I will most certainly miss.

I think I may be leaning towards a new Sierra 1500

Mindstorm, I just recently had to sell my cherokee sport and had to by a 97 jetta. The gas mileage is not as good as you think. I get 18-20 mpg with the jetta.

If you think a 98 Jetta is hot you should drive an e30. It's like floating down the lake in a tube while eating an eclair and drinking a newcastle with hot wimmenz swimming around you.

^^^ Dude, your car might have some problems. Is it the VR6 or something and do you rag the shit out of it?

If it's getting that kind of mileage you might need to check all the usual suspects. Like make sure your tires are inflated, do a tuneup, change the air filter, make sure any O2 sensors on that car aren't throwing codes and letting the engine run like complete shit.

I mean, I've put gas into the car and done the calculations myself, the little POS sips gas.

Also, I got 12.3 MPG on the last tank with my jeep with 2 weeks of driving. That was... Well, that was not good, let's say.
