As I'm sure some of you already know, I'm moving to Seattle for a new job.

Which means, unfortunately, getting rid of my project BMWrx. It's about 65-70% finished now, and all of the engineering work is done. The engine and transmission are mounted, the front suspension is done.

What's left?

Bodywork - Floorpans, trunk mount for fuel cell, resize for pedal box, mounting for radiator assembly, mounting of fiberglass fenders.
Engine - Needs a wiring harness, oil cooler and new oil filter assembly. Needs new timing belt, tensioner and the cover plate for it.
Drivetrain - Needs a custom propeller shaft to match the front to rear diff, needs a re-gear on the rear diff.
Wheels/brakes - Needs a rear 4-to-5 bolt conversion and rear disc brakes. Needs the entire braking system.

Also including everything that comes with it. Hobart 140 Mig like new, Jet bandsaw, angle grinders, saw-zall, engine hoist, transmission jack, jack stands, quick jacks, creepers, several ratchet sets, 5gallon compressor, all the air tools, 4 3-series BMW wheels, 4 Forester wheels.

I Still have EVERY piece off of the BMW, all the interior, dash, et al.

Spread the word, because I don't want this project to die, I just ran out of time on it for me. The front end was designed and fabricated by a BMW technician and is rock solid, light and well built.

I'll try to get out and get some pictures this weekend, feel free to ask questions, shoot me IM/PM/email tyler@snotmonkey.com or call me 3367074611

what's a BMWrx? is it a rally car project? BMW / subaru hybrid? what were you intending on doing with it?

^^^Yes sorry,

It's a 1976 BMW 2002 Chassis, with a 2.5L Subaru H4 engine, transmission and drivetrain.

Intended specifically for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, but also generally a Rally car.

^I've thought about it, but the cheapest garage/warehouse space I can find to rent up there is nearly triple my space here, which would end up costing me an insane amount of money just to store it until I could get back to working on it again.

thought about storing it out of town? if you're gonna spend all saturday working on it, for example, what's the big deal about driving an hour out of town to do it?

and you realize that Pikes Peak is way closer to Seattle than Raleigh, right?

That's sad. Just take a month off, finish it, and drive it there.

^^That's what I do now. It's in Garner. And it's got at least 6-8 months of weekend work left on it if I were to finish it myself and had the time to do it. I just have entirely too much going on in my life and I'd rather hand this off to someone who will finish it right than to piece everything out on ebay.

This car has almost three years of weekend blood, sweat and tears in it.

more than that. you acquired it when i lived across the street from you, and i've been out of NC for 3 years as of next month. I also lived in Wolf Creek for about 6 months after I moved off of Vanderbilt Ave, so that's 3.5 years...and you got the car a little while before I moved.

so you've prob had it about 4 years!

i might be interested in that welder if you're willing to sell it seperate and depending on the price. i've been wanting something portable, my 240v rig just isn't...

Noen,
Keep your project in storage in N.C., if out west is too much $$ Come back to it in a few years when you have the time and $$ to finish it. Or hopefully Seattle will be real good to ya and just have it shipped somewhere and have it completed. You are in too deep to even come close to breaking even not to mention all of your time. Nobody is going to give you what you want for a box of parts. Best of luck to you in Seattle.

^Thats the big problem. Sitting on it for another 3-4 years I could literally BUY a new car instead.

I'm definitely open to splitting up the car and tools, I just want someone to take over the car who will look me dead in the eye and say they will finish what I started.

BTW Ivan, lemme know when you want to come out, homeboy rekeyed all the locks a few months back, luckily I HAPPENED to show up while he was doing it, so I got a new set.

drop me a pm on what you'd want for the following:

1. welder
2. bandsaw
3. jack stands
4. floor jack
5. creepers

btw, might want to put it in the official fs thread, this will probably get locked.

Not really sure what you may be looking to get for this, but I may be interested... I'm currently projectless, and love the 2002's and AWD...

Just a note people, wednesday this all goes on craigslist. friday, all the non-tool parts are getting trucked to smithfield and sold for scrap weight. So if you want this stuff, GET IT.

Damn that motor looks like its sitting low...I was really hoping to see this project come full circle.
Is the Welder still for sale?

^That's because I dont have the top half of the motor on it, that's just the block. Also doesnt have all the air intake stuff on yet. When it's all back on it'll still clear a stock hood without any issue, although a blower hood will probably be a good alternative.

And seriously guys, make me an offer for it all. I'm not trying to recoup my cost or time, I just want to see the thing finished by someone eventually. Lowball away if you are serious about the project.
